Mathis On Thursday, January 29th, Jaquar Derraile Tyheem Mathis turned himself in at the Highlands County Jail after a warrant for his arrest had been issued in relation to the case below. Like the suspects previously arrested, Mathis has also been charged with fifteen (15) counts of grand theft of a firearm, one (1) count of burglary, one (1) count of grand theft and one count of dealing in stolen property. Mathis, 19 years of age, of Sebring, is currently in the Highlands County Jail with a bond set at $145,000. The case remains under investigation. Burglary Suspects Arrested 27 January 2014 On Friday, January 24th, Highlands County Sheriff’s Central Dispatch received a call from the resident of 4106 Higson Ave., Sebring, saying that her home had been burglarized while she was out. Upon arrival deputies found that a burglary had indeed occurred and numerous items of jewelry and fifteen firearms had been stolen from the residence. Brandon Wiley Deputy Amanda Dettman who worked the original report stayed on the case with the help of several detectives over the weekend and recovered some of the firearms and jewelry. This investigation led to the arrest of two male subjects; Brandon Christopher Wiley 18 years of age, and Jartavious Ladarryl Hammond 16 years of age, both of Sebring, have been arrested on fifteen (15) counts of grand theft of a firearm, one (1) count of burglary, one (1) count of grand theft and one count of dealing in stolen property. Hammond was also charged with violation of probation. Wiley is currently in the Highlands County Jail under a no bond status. Hammond has been turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice. This case is still under investigation.
