RE EXPANSION OF A STUDY PACKAGE
Re-expansion of a study package structure will re-evaluate the components of the components of
that structure. If a study package exists on the study plan and it is not associated with any structure
line, re-expansion of a structure will associate it with that structure if it meets the structure line
rules.
Warning messages are issued which identify the action that is being taken.
CUSTOMISED STRUCTURES
A customised structure is created when the Choice Line rules are changes for a student eg the
maximum credit point value is altered.
1. Re-expand the EL/MJ/MN 24CP structure. The ‘customised structure’ warning message is
displayed.

2. Select Yes to keep the customised structure. The rule maximum of 36 credit points is
retained. You will be able to Change the Major or Minor within the EL/MJ/MN 24CP
structure.
3. Select No to revert to the default structure. A warning message is displayed.
The overall maximum for 'Choice of Undergraduate Majors/Minors/Units to make up balance
of credit points' has been exceeded. The defined maximum is 24 while the Study Plan has 36.
You will be unable to change the major or minor if the total credit point value of your selection
exceeds 24 credit points within the structure.
WARNING MESSAGES ON RE-EXPANSION

1. The overall maximum for 'Major and Electives - Arts' has been exceeded. The defined
maximum is 63 while the Study Plan has 66 .
The Study Package Structure may confirm the discrepancy.

On the study plan window, correct the remaining credit point value

Re-expand the structure. The CP value will be adjusted. The warning message is no longer
displayed.

2. The SSP 'LAW 109 Criminal Justice and Procedure/1/1' has been associated to the Structure
Line for 'LAW 109/2 Criminal Justice' even though it doesn't have the same Study Package
Version.
If a Study Package does not have any Structure line, then the re-expansion process will attempt to
associate it.
Structure lines are now associated.

3. The SSP 'JAP01 Japanese Studies Major/1/1' could not be associated to any Structure Line
for 'MAJ EL A20 Major & Elec - Arts/3/1'.
The Study Package component is has a missing structure line. In this example, the major has a
component type of Required.

Re-expansion will adjust the available credit points for the structure

Open the Study Plan Structure window and highlight the major that was not associated.
Change the component type to Option.

Open the Study Plan window and retrieve the record. Re-expand the structure. The major
will now be associated with the structure and the remaining credit point value will be
adjusted.
