elcome to Gibson County, Indiana, and the campus of Oakland City University for the
2016 Christian College National Invitational Tournament Championship. All of us
here at Oakland City University are delighted to be the host institution for the 2016 Christian
College National Invitational Tournament.
We congratulate each participating student/athlete and coach for the accomplishments
and successes during the 2015-16 basketball season. Your endeavors have culminated in an
invitation to compete in the CCNIT Men’s Basketball Championship that involves eight outstanding Christian colleges and universities.
This week will provide every participant, from athletes and coaches to spectators in the
stands, the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to and community in Jesus Christ.
May the Christian spirit of love, justice, and fair play direct all of our activities, not only in
this tournament, but in each day of our lives.
I would like to offer a special word of thanks to all of those who have given so much
of their time and effort to make this tournament possible. It is no small feat to bring together
eight competing teams for a week of back-to-back, great basketball! We appreciate all that you
have done.
Again, we welcome you to the campus of Oakland City University and trust you will
have a great week of fellowship and basketball.
Yours In Christ,
Dr. Ray Barber, President

he Tournament Media Director for the 2016 Christian College National Invitational
Tournament Men’s Basketball championship is Oakland City University Sports
Information Director David Hose.
David will provide half time and post game statistics to each team for each game, as
well as providing members of the media, including newspaper, radio, and television, with
statistics, feature stories, and interview opportunities.
It is our desire and responsibility to make certain that each school’s results are reported
to the respective school’s media outlets in a timely manner.
After each game, national, state, and local media will be contacted in an effort to ensure
proper media coverage of the Christian College National Invitational Tournament.
Pre-Tournament statistics will be provided to the members of the media prior to the
start of the tournament, and after the first day’s competition has been completed, an updated
version will be prepared and ready for media personnel prior to the start of action on day two.
A final updated version of the tournament’s two-day statistics, including both team and
individual statistics will be ready prior to the start of the final day of action.
Complete tournament coverage will be provided by Pete Swanson in the Princeton
Daily Clarion, beginning Monday morning prior to the tournament through the tournament’s
completion.
Swanson, an award winning sports writer, will be in attendance at each of the 12 games

Season Review
Coach Mac Ingmire’s Red Lions are in
the CCNIT for the second straight time in
2015-16, after finishing seventh in 2016.
Lincoln Christian University has a
trio of double-digit scorers on its roster,
led by 6’4” Zach Thompson (17.2) and followed by 6’6” junior Ramon Suero (14.0),
and 6’2” sophomore Michael Fisher...
That threesome had plenty of help in
the LCU scoring attack, as 5’11” freshman
Tre Minnett (8.7), and 5’10” classmate
Andrew Gifford (8.5) notched near double
figure scoring throughout 2015-16.
As a team, the Red Lions connected
on 43.9 percent of their tries from the floor,
including 36.4 percent of their attempts
from beyond the three-point line. At the
charity stripe, they hit on 71.9 percent of

The Red Lions have only one senior
on their roster; yet, they competed throughout the 2015-16 season with NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NAIA Division

Season Review
Veteran Coach Rich Herrin brings his
Morthland College team to the CCNIT for
the second consecutive time in 2016, after
finishing fifth in the 2015 tournament, falling in overtime in the opening round, then
crushed their next two opponents.

scoring machine to the 2016 CCNIT, as
four starters average in double digits, led
by 5’10” sophomore Dylan Burmester
(18.5), and followed by 6’8” sophomore
Aaron Rushing (16.2), 6’4” senior Clay
Payne (14.8), and 5’11” sophomore Cody
Schultz (10.1). The foursome had a great
supporting cast on the offensive end of the
floor, as Tyler Burmester, a 6’2” sophomore (9.9), and 6’7” senior Will Carmickle
(8.9) had several twin-digit scoring games.
Morthland has tossed in 83.7 points a
game on the offensive end of the playing
floor, while giving up 80.3 markers a night.
The Patriots have put in 44.2 percent
