Criterion A: Planning
DEFINING THE PROBLEM:
Quabnu is an all new game designing company which makes games based on
popular titles, giving new features to the game. The games are highly
interactive and are of the AAA standards. But the company is unable to reach
out to the audience. The company is currently making 20 games that are yet to
be released in a period of three months. The company is about to display the
games in a gaming expo known as E3. But the company is not able to make
this information available to the audience. Further the company cannot update
its information in a global medium, even though they have a twitter account as
the number of characters and the flexibility is reduced. In order to compete with
its competitors, they needed the website to be more creative, interactive and
have more features. Furthermore, to attract more customers they want to
promote it by providing freeware to its customer.
The client believes that the website will bring in more funds for his team to work
properly and design games efficiently providing content filled with quality.
Reaching out more customers is his main goal, as the customer support is
important. Further, the customer has the right to know what is going on for a
product that he has preordered. The pre-order feature is also very important to
get the backing of the customer.

JUSTIFICATION OF THE PROPOSED SOLUTION:
I recommended the client to choose a website as it widely accessible by
anyone who has the access to an internet connection. A website can also be
accessed across a variety of devices from smart phones, desktops, portable
gaming devices and etcetera. This would attract a variety of audience from all
over the globe, and freeware distribution becomes easier. With the access to
the website, any user can download the latest version of the freeware as
updated by the company. Furthermore, a website wouldn’t promote any sort of
discrimination in any form. And, since each webpage represents the theme of
the game, it would give the visitor a clear idea on what the game would be like.
The client didn’t want to promote his business by making a game which will be
burnt in a CD and will be distributed along with the pamphlet or a mail as it has
its own limitations. The limitations include the difficulty in burning CD’s in a
large quantity that might get corrupted, and the factor of neglecting the cross
platform feature.
Even though the same can be done using Visual Basics, there will be a
problem with the compatibility. At the first place, the customer needs VB
installed in his system and VB is not supported in the platforms such as phones
and gaming consoles.

Another possible solution could be emails, but the plan was dropped because
each of the mail sent to the customer would be considered to be spam. Further
this wouldn’t promote his business as no new person is reached via this
method, but rather would have a negative effect on the reputation of the
business.
