The Water Cycle
3. The water
vapour cools
and condenses
into clouds
1. The sun heats
up water bodies
2. Water
evaporates as
water vapour
4. As clouds move
over land they cool
further, releasing
water as rain
5. This rain falls into
rivers, reservoirs and
soaks into the ground
where we are able to
collect and treat it
Why should we reduce waste and save water?
• Water is a finite resource – we need to preserve it for the future
o Just 1% of the water on the planet is fresh water available for
consumption. Whilst it rains storage is an issue.
•
Using less water and reducing waste saves money
o
Metered charges are based entirely on the amount of
water used; however, not everyone is metered.
o
If water becomes scarce in the future water bills will rise
•
Using less water saves energy and reduces carbon footprint;
water efficiency offers easy win, win, win
o Energy pumping costs
o Behavioural and social conscious increasing
•
Building partnerships with Walsall Housing Group to achieve
carbon reductions beyond compliance.
Opportunities being sought for ‘out of the box’ thinking.
