Former Foxes Player Vogt Makes Major League Club
Fort Collins, CO --- The Fort Collins Foxes Baseball Club has announced that former Foxes
player Stephen Vogt has been added to the 25-man opening day roster of the Tampa Bay Rays.
Vogt, who played for the Foxes in 2005 and 2006, was added to the 25-man roster on April 3
after hitting .323 for Tampa bay this spring. Vogt was drafted by the Rays in the 12th round of
the 2007 First Year Player Draft, and last season hit .298 with 17 home runs and 105 RBIs in 128
games at Montgomery (AA) and Durham (AAA). In his two seasons with the Foxes (83 games),
Vogt hit .375 with 26 doubles, 2 home runs, and 60 RBI. He also won the “Player of the Year”
award with the Foxes in 2006.
"He'll play some left field, and we'll continue to work with him behind the plate too," Rays
manager Joe Maddon said of Vogt. "But, primarily, probably you'll see him in the outfield. He
can play first base, he'll be all over the place -- takes his ground balls, takes his fly balls, hit,
pinch-hit, catch a little bit, whatever. Make him into one of those guys for right now."
Vogt is the first player from the Fort Collins Foxes, as well as from the Mountain Collegiate
Baseball League, to be added to the 25-man roster of a Major League Baseball team.
