The Revised Constitution, Chapter Operations, and Then Some

Strategic Action Planning
How Do We Do THAT?
• What Is a Strategic Action Plan?
A plan for the future. What would you like to see
happening in __ months/years?
• How do we make a Strategic Action Plan?
Chapter members work as a team generating goals or
expectations, strategies for achieving them, persons
responsible, evaluation criteria and date.
• Who should be involved?
All members should be involved in the process and
approve the plan.
• When should one be created? How
often should the plan be revised?
As often as needed: annually, biennially, even semiannually.
• What do we do if the old one is lost?
Create a new one.
• What’s the best (easiest) format?
A Strategic Action Plan Model is available on MI ΔΚΓ
website. Or, generate your own form, including
what, how, who, and by when.
Using the Model
Let’s do one suggested objective together … one
in the area of Technology
Goal: To use available technology to improve
Society awareness, communication, and
effectiveness
Objective: Chapters will appoint a chapter
member to visit the Michigan and International
websites on a regular basis and to share the
results at chapter meetings and in chapter
newsletters.

Did YOU … set date for evaluation of new objective?
Using the Model (continued)
Let’s do another … this time a Program objective
Goal: To present programs that meet the needs
of members
Objective: Chapters will develop programs
based on Society purposes, publications, and
other Society resources
Using the Model (continued)
If we wanted to learn about, prior to getting
involved in, Schools for Africa, our Society’s
International Project, we could …
Objective: Research and present at least one
program on Schools for Africa
Method: ?
Success Indicators: ?
Evaluation: ?
Now You’re Ready …
• Determine goal/s (Think BIG!)
• Select smaller objectives which will move you
toward that goal
• Assign someone to supervise/oversee
movement toward the objective/s
• Choose outcomes that will indicate success
• Establish a date to evaluate progress
• Monitor, review, judge
• Repeat process (modify old, select new, etc.)
