Aplayerwithabloodyinjuryorbloodonhis/heruniformmustleavethegame.Theplayermaynot
returntothegameuntilthewoundisnolongerbleeding,thewoundiscoveredand/ortheuniformis
changed.
FORFEITS
A. Gametimeisforfeittime.
B. NoShow=NoteammembersshowuptoaschedulegameandtheIntramuralsOfficewasnot
contacted.ANoShowcanresultineliminationfromendoftheseasonplayoffparticipation.
C. Forfeit=Ateamdoesnothavetheminimumamountofplayerstobeginacontest.Ateamnotifies

PLAYERS
A. Rostersizeisunlimited;pleasenotethatonlydoubletheamountofplayersonthefieldwillbe

C. Aminimumoffourplayersperteamareneededtobeginagame.
D. Co-edteamsmusthavenomoremalethanfemaleplayersonthecourttobeginacontest.
E. Co-edteamscanonlybeginwith4playersiftwoplayersarefemale.Co-edteamscanbeginwith5
playersaslongas3arefemale.Howeverhavingmorefemalesonthefloorthanmalesisnot

F. Substitutesareallowedonlyinthecaseofinjury.

BOUNDARIES
A. Duringplay,allplayersmustremainwithinboundarylines(indicatedbythebasketballboundariesand
theconeslocatedatthebasketballend-line).
B. Playersmaypassthroughtheirend-linetoretrievestrayballsintheirbackcourtarea,butmust
immediatelyre-entertheplayingfieldthroughtheirownend-line.
o Note:Aplayerwhodoesnotimmediatelyre-entertheplayingareamaybedeclaredOUT
C. AplayershallNOT:
o Haveanypartoftheirbodycontacttheplayingsurfaceonoroverasideline.
o Leavetheplayingfield(sidelineorend-line)toavoidbeinghit,orattempttocatchaball.
o Haveanypartoftheirbodycrossoverthecenter-lineandcontactthegroundontheir
opponents’sideofthecourt(Exception:duringopeningrush,playersmayslightlycrossthe

D. Aplayerthatisdeemed“out”mustexittheplayingfieldthroughtheend-line.
E. Ifateammatecatchesaliveball,aneliminatedplayermayrejointhegamethroughthesidelineatthe
promptoftheofficial.
GAMEPLAY
Whilecallsareultimatelyatthediscretionoftheofficials,the“honorsystem”willoccasionallybeused,
andplayerswillbeexpectedtorulewhetherornotahitwaslegalorwhethertheywerelegally
eliminated.
A. Sixdodgeballswillbeplacedalongthecenterline.
B. Playersthentakeapositionontheirendline.
C. Followingasignalbytheofficial,teamsmayapproachthecenter-linetoretrievetheballs(calledthe
“openingrush.”).Duringtheopeningrushaplayermaynotslideorkickinordertogainpossessionof
theball.
D. Each/everyballretrievedattheopeningrushmustfirstbecarriedorpassedbeyondtheattackline
(10-footline)andintotheteam’sbackcourtbeforeitmaybelegallythrownatanopponent.
E. TheobjectofthegameistoeliminateallopposingplayersbygettingthemOUT.

thewhitebasketballcourtlineandthehockeyredline.
J. Aplayerthatisoutmustraisetheirhandwhenleavingthefloor,toavoidgettinghit.
K. Aplayercanreenterthegameanywhereonthesidelines.
L. Aballhastobethrowneitheroverhandorunderhand,itcannotbekicked,punched,orbatted(ie
volleyballserve).
GOLDENHOOP:REGENERATION
A. Teamscan,atanytime,regeneratetheirsquadtotheallowablenumberofsixplayersonthecourtby
makingabasketwithadodgeballinthehooplocatedontheopponent’ssideofthecourt.Theball
mayhitanypartofthebasketballhoop,supports,orceilingandstillgothroughthebaskettocount.
Anyball(thrownordeflected)thathitsanypartofthebasketorsupportand/orgoesthroughthe
hoop,becomesdeadandcannotbecaughtforanoutorhitaplayerforanout.Airballshotsmaybe
caughtforanout.
B. Ateammaythrowaballatanattemptedregenerationshotinordertoblocktheshot.Theball
throwninordertoblocktheshotdoesnotneedtobecaught.
OVERTIME
A. Ifanequalnumberofplayersremainafterregulationplay,asuddendeathovertimeperiodwillbe
played.
B. Thefirstteamtolegallyeliminateanyoneopponentwillbedeclaredthewinner.
C. Theovertimeperiodwillbeginwitheachteamhavingthree“ballsinhand”behindtheirend-line.
D. Notimeoutsareallowedduringovertime.
DEADBALL
A. TheBallwillberuleddeadanytimeit:
o Hitsand/oriscaughtbyanotherparticipant.
! Intheeventthataballstrikesanopponent,butremainsairborne,onlytheplayer
initiallyhitmayattempttocatchtheball.
! Iftheballiscaughtbyateammate,theplayerwillstillbedeemedout,astheballhas
becomedeadonarrival.
o Contactsthefloor,backboard,wall,ceilingand/orcurtain

! Exception-Aballthatcontactsthebackboard,ceiling,and/orbasketsupportsystemon
aregenerationshotandissuccessfulisokay.
o Contactsanopposingplayer’sball.
! Ifaballisthrown,hitsanopponent’sball,andthencontactstheopponent’sperson,
theopponentwillnotbedeclaredout.
STALLINGAND5-SECONDVIOLATION
A. Obviousstallingshallbecalledatthediscretionoftheofficial.
B. Itisillegalfortheleadingteamtocontrolalltheballsformorethanfiveseconds.Ifallballsare
locatedononesideofthecourt,theleadingteam(teamwithballs)mustmakealegitimateeffort(i.e.
thrownorrollednotplaced)togetatleastoneballacrossthe10meterandintotheopponent’s
backcourt.Ifthisisnotdonewithinfiveseconds,a“5-secondviolation”willbecalled.
C. Penaltyfor5-secondviolation(s):
o FirstViolation:Playwillbestoppedandtheballswillbedividedevenlyamongtheteams.Play
willcontinuewith“ballsinhand.”
o SecondViolation:Teamwithoutpossessionofallballswillbeawardedallballs.(i.e.balls
changeteampossessions).
o ThirdViolation:Ejectionofoneplayerfromtheoffendingteam.
Note:Thestallingviolationsdonotapplytoovertime.
SPORTSMANSHIPVIOLATION
A. AYellow/Redcardsystemwillbeusedtocontrolunsportsmanlikeconductandimproperbehavior.
B. Aplayerthatisejectedcannotbesubstitutedfor;theteammustplaydownaplayer.
