Proposition 39 – California Clean
Energy Jobs Act
• $550 million was made available due to a
closed tax loop hole
• Funds for school districts are determined by
ADA and Free and Reduced Lunch percentages
• PSUSD is eligible for approximately $5 million
• The funds will be issued over 5 years
• The purpose of the act is to create jobs and
save school districts money through energy
savings

Eligible Projects
• New or repairs to heating, ventilation and airconditioning systems (HVAC)
• New lighting and lighting control systems
• Installation of energy-efficient windows,
programmable thermostats and thermal
window shades
• On-site clean energy generation (i.e. solar)
• Projects must meet a Savings Investment Ratio
(SIR) of 1.05

PSUSD Plan of Action
• Newcomb Anderson McCormick (NAM) was
hired to conduct ASHRAE II audits at PSUSD sites
• Audits completed during the Summer of 2014
• NAM has prepared their draft recommendations
for eligible projects
• Projects will take advantage of all additional
available rebates

Next Steps
• Recommended projects will be designed and
constructed based on the findings of the audit
which meet program requirements
• Projects will work in conjunction with
Deferred Maintenance projects
