Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s Baseball Registration Now Taking Place for January-April 2012 Season at Kendall Club Newly-Renovated Baseball Fields, Made Possible by a Grant from The UPS Foundation, to Debut on Jan. 1, 2012, Just in Time for New Season WHO/WHAT: It will soon be time for many Miami area children ages 5-14 to “play ball,” thanks to the baseball program at Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s Kendall Club. The Club is now taking registrations for its January-April 2012 baseball season. Participants will be playing on the Kendall Club’s newly-renovated baseball fields, which will debut on Jan. 1, 2012. The UPS Foundation provided a $25,000 grant to Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade for the renovation of the fields. The program’s age divisions are: Ages 5-6: T-Ball Ages 7-8 Coach Pitch (child has to turn 9 after May 1, 2012) Ages 9-10: Kid Pitch (child has to turn 11 after May 1, 2012) Ages 11-12: Kid Pitch (child has to turn 13 after May 1, 2012) Ages 13-14: Kid Pitch (child has to turn 15 after May 1, 2012) Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s sports programs are designed to provide a safe and healthy environment so that children can learn team skills, increase self-esteem, build character, become positive role models, and increase motivation as well as specific skills related to the sport. Sports programs are available during the afternoon to the early hours of the night, Monday through Saturday. This is the time of day when children, especially teens, are more likely to engage in harmful activities. Coaches are volunteers who help the children learn proper techniques for the sport.
