Nutrition Research Project
Two Grades
You are to select a topic related to our
study of nutrition based on your textbook,
Food Today. We have studied the 6
nutrients, their work, and the foods they
are in; deficiencies of specific nutrients,
• symptoms, and consequences; good health
guidelines; and establishing good eating
habits. Other topics include phytochemicals,
toxicity, and tips for drinking more water. Do
not choose a broad topic such as
carbohydrates. Instead, select one that is
focused such as “The Importance of Fiber.”
(Reminder: It is one type of carbohydrate.)
• On Friday you will take notes (to be turned in
to me) from the textbook, Food Today.
Reminder: No book is to be taken out of the
classroom. You will be in the 205 computer
lab Monday—Thursday. Monday is to be used
for additional research about your topic that is
research based. You need to note the
websites that you use to gather your facts and
information.
• You should rely on government or medical
websites. Do not include information from
any site that is trying to sell you something.
Their information may or may not be
research-based. When you print information,
put it in a work document. Do NOT print web
pages. Tuesday—Thursday will be used for
creating your power point.
In making your power point,
remember the following points:
• Do NOT copy and paste huge amounts of
information on a slide. Each slide should be
readable and should include enough
information to be information but not so
much that it is unpleasant to read. Think of
the type of presentation you enjoy.
• You may include a minimal amount of clip art
to add a little interest, but it is not the focus of
your presentation and is often difficult to
download.
• The number of slides is less important than
the amount of information included in the
presentation. It should reflect 5 hours of
work. You will turn in your notes and
research. When you finish, you will either
email me the presentation or save it on your
own flash drive so I can save it on mine.
