Our assessment teams are the first point of direct contact for those children and families who meet our
threshold criteria and require an assessment of need. The teams work with families for a time limited

These posts are within the Adults Team which has newly merged with Learning Disability services.
Somerset County Council has several vacancies for registered Social Workers within the Mendip area.
Adult services are going through a transformation merging with Learning Disability services. Our social
work team require 2 full time posts and there is a further opportunity for a full time transitions worker to
work alongside an Adult Social Care Worker in Mendip to support young people from the age of 14 to
25 years. These are exciting opportunities to start or develop your career in a wonderful rural setting
with opportunities for career development within Adult Social Care.
In order to succeed in these roles, you will need to use all your social work/social care skills to engage
with people in creative ways, to be a creative helper, to promote recovery and independence and to

Targeted Youth Support (TYS) is delivered by the Local Authority. It delivers a range of services to
vulnerable young people aged 15-19 (19+ for young people who are already in contact with Children &
Social Care). The target groups include some of the most challenging young people who are often
disaffected and disadvantaged.
TYS undertakes return home interviews for young people reported missing and is also commissioned
to provide a Tier 2 Substance Misuse service and Healthy Relationship Interventions to young people.
TYS also provides individual careers advice and guidance to Young Offenders 16+, some who are
Care Leavers (ready to engage in ETE), Children Looked After, Job Centre Plus 16/17 year old
claimants and Young Carer’s (16+).
TYS contributes to the Pathway to Independence (P2I) contract, offering support to young people who
present as homeless in the P2I Hubs. The post will include working as part of a multi-agency team

including YOT, Mediation, Specialist Tier 2 CSE intervention workers and Young Carers Project
Workers.
You will:
 Work as a Youth Intervention Worker to provide information, advice and guidance to young
people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education, employment or training.
 Act as a case holder for complex cases; undertake a variety of assessments, review risk and
monitor.
 Deliver interventions in groups and to individuals
The vulnerability of the young people we work with is increasing, the society we live in is changing and
the structures and frameworks within which we operate can be expected to alter and evolve at an
increasing pace. We therefore need staff who are prepared to learn and adapt rapidly to these
changing contexts, as demands arise. We will provide a high level of management support to this role.

You will be expected to hold a caseload under the direct supervision of a registered worker. You will
undertake assessment and reviews to ensure interventions meet assessed needs and outcomes for
people within the current criteria and legislation (Care Act 2014). Somerset County Council encourages

community resources is key to this work.
You will be required to ensure risk is appropriately managed for people and their families or carers, in a
range of settings. You will act with a degree of autonomy when dealing with individual cases, working

Working with people and their carers (paid and unpaid) you will be required to travel to and attend
meetings/appointments within the area and across the County. You will need to be IT literate with

We are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated individual to join our staff team as an off-site
instructor. Somerset Outdoor Residential Learning Service is the largest provider of Outdoor Education
in Somerset and enjoys a reputation for high quality and standards.
Our centres offer courses in a number of exciting outdoor activities and are situated in fantastic
positions across Somerset with immediate access to a variety of outdoor locations. This post is
predominantly situated at our Charterhouse Centre on the Mendip Hills.
You will be an experienced and enthusiastic outdoor instructor with excellent interpersonal and
communication skills and will work with our wide range of customers. This role will involve working
some evenings, overnights and weekends.
You will deliver a range of activities in a residential setting, from pond dipping and shelter building to

responsible for providing admin support directly to Children’s Social Care Managers, Independent
Safeguarding Reviewing Officers and Quality Assurance functions.

This investments team is responsible for the Council’s treasury management, lease financing and
pension fund investments.
We need a versatile individual, ideally with some experience in a finance-based environment to join the
Investments team. You will be required to perform a wide variety of tasks related to the Pension Fund
and Treasury Management areas and in particular will collate and record data that underpin these
areas.

Able to demonstrate a clear aptitude for this type of work, you should have proven experience in a
finance/investments/accounting environment. You should possess an understanding of financial
concepts and any knowledge of investment would be an advantage. You will be expected to

Somerset library Centre is part of a consortium handling materials from South Gloucester, Bristol, North

Each working week is 7.5 hours per week - Tuesday, Wednesday and alternate Fridays.
The tasks undertaken involve unpacking and re-packing crates to enable our van drivers for delivery
the following day.
The work involves a lot of manual handling, moving crates of approximately 10kilos.
The packer may be required to re-pack up to 150 – 200 crates daily.
The person for this post will need to have good organisational skills and the ability to work under
pressure.
