Shoalhaven District Cricket Association SDCA General Meeting, 07 September 2015 at the Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemen’s Club, Nowra. MINUTES 1. Opened: 7:20 pm 2 a. Attendance: C. Russell (President-Chair), B. Grey (Vice-President), P. Newlyn (Secretary), S. Isherwood (Sen. Recorder), B. Munilla (BCC), T. Bricklebank (NNCCC), T. Street, B-SHCC), C. Howsan (Ex-SCC), A. Malcolm (BBCC), S. Fagerlund (NCC), A. Wolfe (B&BCC), J. Westley (SICC), N. Jennings (BCC). 2 b. Absent: Umpires. 4. Apologies: R. Brooks (Treasurer), D. Webb (NCC), C. Lahene (CBCC) 5. Minutes: As read from 07 September 2015. Motion 1. That the Minutes be accepted. Moved NCC Delegate, 2nd NNCCC Delegate Carried. 6. Business Arising: a. Bankstown CC visit: Shoalhaven did not field the strongest, however all players enjoyed the match and there are plans for Shoalhaven to play a pre-season match at Bankstown next year. b. The Jeffery Cup with be under 18 in the 15/16 season. c. The pitch-soil has arrived and is at Rugby Park. Clubs to let the Secretary know when they wish to pick up soil. Cost to clubs is $173 per tonne d. Dates for Burns Cup, 24 -25 October. Jeffery Cup will be in February 2016 over 2 days, dates to be advised. e. Advised from the V-P, U19 Country already played. The Jeffery Cup will be a preview for U19s selection in 2016. f. Thanks to the Secretary for organising storage for the pitch-soil at Rugby Park. 7. Correspondence: As read. 8. Treasurer’s Report: (Treasurer an apology): to the next SDCA General Meeting. 10. Business Arising: Nil 11. Senior Recorder Report: The Treasures report to be held over a. Some new and returning player’s gradings to be finalized. b. The list of graded players will be available on MyCricket tonight. 12. Grading Committee: a. Points system: regraded players within 15 points of a grade may be considered for regrading to the previous grade if a valid reason is given. b. Regraded players within 30 points of a grade may be considered for regrading to the previous grade if they produce a medical certificate or their club cannot field a team in their new grade. c. Players regraded back to lower grades will be placed on a ‘watch and act’ list. d. A mid-season review of the regraded players on the watch and act list will occur. Should such players perform above the grade, they may be regraded to a higher grade. 13. Umpire’s Report: 14. Zone Report: (Pres) Nil a. The last SZC meeting held 16 September 2015 at Ulludulla. A quorum was not present, so it was deemed to be a committee meeting where ordinary members to make comment but could not vote. b. Affiliation fees: to invoice associations for the individual amounts. c. G. Creighton reported that ACT players could be selected in the SZC Zone Country Championship after a trial on 8th November 2015 at a venue TBD. d. Monaro to field under 12, 14 and 16 teams, with no more that 2 over age players. e. Goulburn to host the Burns cup f. Associations to advise G. Creighton by 30 October if they intend to nominate representative teams. g. Burns Cup will be U18s. Format to run for two seasons. h. Colts to have six SZC players. i. Big Bash: Southern Crew team named. h. JLT Pregame Check List must be completed prior to each match. (instructions from Cricket Australia). JLT app can be downloaded to a mobile phone. SZC requires the pregame checklist to be completed. The completed app would act as proof the checklist 2 Shoalhaven District Cricket Association had been done. The President requested that completed JTL checklist be sent to her prior to all matches. If the app can’t be sent, send a photo of the completed checklist. If checklist were not received, fines may result. i. Some discussion about the practicalities of using the app or sending photos. Ex-SCC argued that smart phones may not be available to all captains; also that reception may not be available in all areas and who pays the cost?. The Secretary asked for a list of captains without the facilities to use the JTL. Also, a check of JTL forms last season revealed that a number of captains had not compled them, especially in the lower grades, with one captain stating that he didn’t know what a JTL Pregame Check List was. The check lists have been around for several seasons; clubs have had ample time to instruct their captains of the requirements. Motion 3. That when the JLT Pregame Check List is completed, it is send to the President either via the JLT app or by email. Moved the President, 2nd NCC – Carried. j. The SCG cup competition had been abandoned. k. A minutes silence to mark the passing of Graham Sawkins. j. Next SZC meeting is scheduled for 01 November 2015 at Marnika Oval, ACT 15. Business Arising: a. NCC Delegate: NCC can nominate for the Country Cup. b. Sen Rec: Suggested that rep teams nominate for the Country Cup. c. B-SHCC: Dates for Country Cup not released yet. The VP with advise. 16. Juniors Report: No report. 17. Representatives Report: (V-P) a. Bankstown CC match: Thanks to Ex-Servicemen’s for the preparation and use of HDO and to the umpires for officiating. b. Call for nominates for the Burns Cup as soon as possible, only a month away. c. No first grade matches on the Saturday of the Burns Cup. d. Problems with rep players: Some withdraw from representative teams, yet play for their clubs. Some reasons for this, can’t get time off work etc. If can’t play rep advise the VP as soon as possible. e. Big Bash T.20 04 November. e. Discussion regarding dates of rep matches etc. The Sen Rec. to sort out. 3 Shoalhaven District Cricket Association 18. Judiciary Report: Nil Motion 4. That all reports be accepted. Moved: BCC, 2nd B&BCC - Carried. 19. General Business: a. Sen Rec: West Ulladulla Sports Park; the SCC was using a cylinder gang mower for the couch outfield, now using a rotary mower and the couch is being infected with kikuyu grass. The Secretary to discuss with the SCC. b. T/20: to be played on Fridays with finals on Sundays. c. Ex-SCC: Ask if the current SDCA Constitution on the website? Was a special resolution submitted to include CBCC in the SDCA competition? When did this occur? The President replied that a Special Resolution was put at a Special Meeting an the resolution was passed. Shane Halliday from Ex-SCC attended that meeting. Ex-SCC asked if this was sent to NSW Fair Trading? The President replied that an amendment to the Constitution was approved by NSW Fair Trading allowing the SDCA to deal with such issues by Special Resolution without seeking approval from NSW Fair Trading. d. Ex-SCC: Asked could the minutes be emailed to clubs prior to meetings. Motion 5. That the Secretary email the general meeting minutes to the clubs not less than one week before the next scheduled meeting. Moved Ex-SCC, 2nd NNCCC – Carried. e. B&B: Huskisson Oval will be unavailable due to the athletics carnival. f. HDO could be used for representative matches. Book through D. Sloane. g. The VP suggested that rep players be given something to recognise that they played for Shoalhaven. Embroidered polo shirts were suggested. Motion 5. That the SDCA obtain polo shirts for representative players with the SDCA logo with their names embroidered underneath. Moved VP, 2nd NNCCC – Carried. h. Playing shirts for Burns and Jeffery Cups – The Pres. To investigate. i. Ex-SCC: Changes to the SDCA A to Z: i. Section 26.1 is duplicated. ii. 26.1.11 change of times and fines. iii. 26.2.7 change of times and fines. iv. 13.3 should be in a table. v. One day wides; first, second, third and fourth grade should be in the one section. j. Pres: SCR needs information in by 12 noon due to publication deadline. 4 Shoalhaven District Cricket Association k. Discussion regarding T/20 competition.
