2013-2014 Student Initiatives Fund Grant Application
Allocated by the Finance Committee
Preliminary grant application instructions – steps 1-4 must take place in order to be eligible to apply
for a grant.
1. The Finance Committee (FC) is selective about the grants it funds with the Student Initiatives
Fund. The committee is looking for well-articulated proposals that will positively contribute to the
Lewis & Clark student’s campus experience. Complete this form thoughtfully. Please keep in mind
that FC accepts applications on a rolling basis (the sooner you submit your application, the
sooner it will be considered by the committee).
2. After you complete your application, schedule an appointment to review your application with
Tyler Church the ASLC Treasurer to review your application. Once you review your application
with Tyler, it will be brought to the Finance Committee for consideration.
3. Once completed, submit your typed application to the ASLC Treasurer during posted office hours
or slide it under the door to the ASLC Cabinet office (Templeton room 238).
4. Next, you will receive an email message informing you of the meeting day, time, and location
that you must attend to present your application. The Committee will have already received and
reviewed your application, please be prepared to give a very brief presentation (no more than
five (5) minutes) and answer any questions.
5. The Finance Committee can fully fund, partially fund or deny your application. If you start the
process early, you will have time to seek alternate funding sources if the committee does not
meet all of or any of your funding needs.
6. You will be notified of the committee’s decision within 24-hours.
7. Please make note of the following application guidelines.
a. All proposals must be student initiated to receive funding from the Student Initiatives Fund.
b. Funding cannot be donated to an outside organization or charity.
c. Funding cannot be used to purchase alcohol or tobacco products.
d. The Finance Committee does not retroactively fund any event or project.

When presenting your application to the Finance Committee, it is important to itemize each expenditure. Please complete the
following chart with the exact amounts that will be spent if your grant is approved. Then provide, a justification/explanation for
each expenditure (feel free to use an additional sheet of paper for your justifications/explanations if necessary). Make sure you
consider all possible expenses for your project/event. It is important that Finance Committee only has about $20,000.00 available
each semester and that we hear two to three grants per week.
If you want to apply for operating costs for your organization, please apply through the Student Organizations committee.
