I visited Qatar during the bank holiday weekend to promote stronger commercial ties.
I discussed with the CEO of Qatar Airways their plans to establish a direct route between
Cardiff and Doha. This route will greatly improve travel options from Cardiff and make a
significant contribution to enhancing Wales' position for business and tourism.
I also met senior representatives from the Qatar National Bank and the Qatar Investment
Authority, and other businesses, to promote investment into Wales. I believe Wales has
much to offer investors and, in a competitive global environment, we must work hard and
pro-actively to build partnerships.
