• 1 Game Board

• 4 Catnip Tokens
• 3 Mice

Object The Great Cheese Chase is on! The Mice are scurrying up to a cheese party in the
attic. But Tiger the Cat is trying to stop them. The object of the game is for all players to work
together to move the three Mice from the kitchen to the attic before the Cat gets to the attic.
The last space on the path is not the end. Mice must be IN the attic for the players to win. Make sure
to spin and move the Mice or the Cat all the way into the attic.
Remember The Great Cheese Chase is a cooperative game, meaning all players work
together for one outcome—everyone wins or loses together. There are many opportunities in The Great Cheese Chase for players to make decisions together. Talk with the
other players to choose which Mouse to move even when it’s not your turn and decide
together when to use the Catnip token to move the Cat back a space.
Set Up Open the board and lay it on a table or flat surface. Place the three Mice on
the Mice Start arrow. Place Tiger on the Cat Start arrow. Place the Catnip tokens on the
spaces with catnip pictures on them. Place the spinner where everyone can reach it. The
player who ate cheese most recently goes first. Play continues clockwise.
If Tiger stops on a space with a Mouse,
the Mouse goes back to Mice Start. If
a Mouse stops on the space with
Tiger, the Mouse must go back to
Mice Start.
Catnip
If a Mouse stops on a space with the
bottom of a ladder on it, the Mouse
moves up the ladder on that turn.
The Mice do not travel back down the
ladders. Tiger never takes the ladder;
he only takes the long way around. If
Tiger is in the space on the other side
of the ladder, the Mouse would not
want to take the ladder.
Tiger the Cat loves Catnip. When a Mouse
stops on a space with a Catnip token, the
players collect that Catnip token and put it
off to the side of the board to be used at a
later time. A Catnip token works like magic
to move Tiger BACK one space. Players
decide together when to use the Catnip
token. They can use as many Catnip tokens
as they want at any time. Using a Catnip
token does not replace a turn. A Catnip
token can be used only once and may not
be used again.
Game End If all three Mice make it to
the attic before Tiger gets there, you
all win! If Tiger gets there first, start
over and try again.
If Tiger stops on a space
with a Catnip token, he
gets to keep it and it is
out of play.
