Alumni Sports Day | Saturday 29 April 2017
We are delighted that you are joining us at this year’s Alumni Sports Day. Please find below the joining
instructions for the day and location maps for your convenience.
Overview
The day is primarily hosted by the Athletics Union but the Alumni Relations Team will be on all sites to register
you for the event and be on hand for any queries you may have.
This event provides a great opportunity to come back to campus with your fellow team mates and University
friends and reminisce about your sporting days. Please see below for further information about the day and for
travel directions.

Registration
So that we know whether you have arrived to compete or spectate please register when you arrive. You will be
given an alumni t-shirt to participate or support in if you wish, as well as a wrist band to claim your free drink at
our after celebration event in The Stags. You can register at the following locations:

For sports at Wide Lane: - You will find the Alumni Team in the bar area.
For sports at Highfield and Richard Taunton College: - As we are unable to have a central registration
point the Alumni Team will meet you by your area of sport beforehand.
Celebration Event
New for this year is the opportunity to attend a celebration event for all who attended the Alumni Sports Day in
The Stags, Highfield Campus at 7pm. This will include recognition of successes from the day. If you are planning
on coming to the event please make sure you collect your wrist band when registering, for a drink on us at the
event.
Social Media on the day
Alumni team members’ @unisotonalumni and Union Southampton @TeamSoton will be live tweeting matches
and highlights from the day – follow #UoSAlumni to make sure you don’t miss any of the action! Make sure to
use the hashtag when posting your photos on social media too.

Photography
Members of the Alumni Team will be taking photos of the day at all sites for use by the University on our
website, social media or in other promotional materials. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to
speak to a member of the Alumni Team.

Jubilee Sports Centre and Students’ Union:
By Bus
The Unilink bus service runs regularly from various locations around the city and there is a bus stop on Highfield
Campus directly outside the Jubilee Sports Centre. For more information, please visit: www.unilinkbus.co.uk/
By Car
If you would like to travel by car type the postcode SO17 1BJ into your satnav. The Jubilee Sports Centre can be
found on University Road. Guests can park on Campus free of charge at weekends.
Highfield Campus Information
Changing rooms are available in the Jubilee Sports Centre. These are used by the general public so please do
not leave your valuables unlocked. There are also changing facilities on Level 1 of Building 42.
The Students’ Union outlets will be open throughout the day serving food and drinks.
Sports Centre staff and University Security Staff can offer First Aid if required.
Wide Lane Sports Ground:
By Bus
The Unilink bus service runs regularly from Highfield Campus to Southampton Airport, which is immediately
behind Parkway Railway Station. Wide Lane Sports Ground is located opposite the Railway Station. For more
information, please visit: www.unilinkbus.co.uk/.
By Car
If you would like to travel by car, type the following
postcode SO50 5PE into your satnav. Wide Lane Sports
Ground is located opposite Parkway Railway Station.

Wide Lane Information
Wide Lane site will be open from 8am to 6pm.
The bar will be open from 11.00am - 5.30pm along with a BBQ. There are water fountains, but it is also advised
that you bring plenty of refreshments with you on the day.
You are more than welcome to leave your belongings in the building, but please be aware that personal
belongings are left at the owner’s risk and it is advised to lock valuables in your car. There have been things
stolen from the site in the past so it is recommended that people do not bring valuables onto site where
possible.
There are 24 changing rooms available and if teams wish to lock any belongings in them please ask at reception
for a key.
Please make sure you use the rubbish bins provided at Wide Lane and take any rubbish home that cannot be
disposed of.
St. John’s ambulance will be on site if required.

car park on site.

Basketball will be held in the Sports Hall and there are changing rooms nearby. For treatment of minor injuries,
the Basketball Club have a member who is First Aid trained. For anything more serious there is a Minor Injuries
Unit at Royal South Hants Hospital or Emergency Department at Southampton General Hospital.
