General information on housing at TU Dortmund University:

The application deadlines:
o
May 15 for the winter semester (October to February/March) and
o
November 15 for the summer semester (April to July/August)
Important: The German Language Course takes place in September and in March. So please
consider that when making the reservation!!!
Please contact your academic advisor at TU Dortmund University in order to find out when the
examination period will end, so that you know how long you have to stay.

Most dormitories are close to the campus, others are a bit further away. Please have a look at our
website regarding accommodation and decide whether you would like to book a dorm room or not:
http://www.aaa.tu-dortmund.de/erasmus or http://www.aaa.tu-dortmund.de/exchangestudents. The
rent amounts to app. 230€ to 370€ (including incidental costs).

Do not contact the Studierendenwerk directly! Only the International Office can reserve your room.

The rooms are allocated by the Studierendenwerk. Therefore, the International Office has no
influence on which room you will be in.


-2The reservation is binding. You can cancel this reservation up to two months before your arrival.
After that, the full rent is charged if the room cannot be sublet.

The rooms can be booked only for full months.

Unfortunately, we cannot take any wishes concerning the rooms into consideration. If you want to
stay with someone special or if you want to have a room in a certain dorm, we cannot provide that.

For disabled students: If you have any special needs, please let us know.

The duration you give in your application form is binding. There is no chance to get out of the room
earlier. If you indicate in your application form that you will stay from March until July, you cannot
move out in June. Or if you move out, you will have to pay the rent for July as well.

ERASMUS+ students: The duration for your rental contract is limited to one semester.
ONLY FOR ERASMUS+ STUDENTS:
In order to complete your reservation, you have to transfer a deposit (320 EUR) until

May 31 (for winter semester reservations)

November 30 (for summer semester reservations)
to the Studierendenwerk Dortmund.
Please make sure that the Studierendenwerk Dortmund receives exactly 320 EUR. Please contact your
bank in order to find out whether there is a transfer fee. Within Europe there should not be an additional
fee for money transfer.
