Dear Parents/Carers,
It’s hard to believe that we are in September already! Our Primary 1 pupils enjoyed having lunch with
their families on Friday last week. I would like to thank Mrs Dunlop, our Catering Manager, and her
dedicated staff for ensuring that it was such a success.
New School Building
The latest updates indicate that the new building is still on track for completion as
planned. The planned exceptional closure dates are Tuesday 25th October, Wednesday
26th October and Thursday 27th October 2016. The children’s first day in the new building will be
Friday, 28th October 2016.
Father John
As a school community we are very lucky to be supported by Father John. We rely on his direction
and guidance to ensure that we continue on our faith journey.
Reporting to Parents
Parents’ Night will take place in the school hall on Thursday, 6th October 2016 from 4pm8pm. Times will be allocated to parents/carers to discuss pupil progress with Class Teachers.
Further information about appointments will follow.
Health Promoting School
In St Patrick’s we pride ourselves on being a healthy school. We encourage our children to
bring healthy snacks and healthy drinks to school. Children are encouraged to bring bottles
of water to drink during class time.
Parent Council
The next meeting of the Parent Council will be on Tuesday 27th September at 7pm in St Patrick’s
Church Hall. We were delighted to welcome some parents of new P1 pupils to our last meeting.
Parent Council meetings are very welcoming so please come along and help us continue to
strengthen our partnership working. All parents/ carers are welcome.
Sacraments
Our Primary 4 pupils will receive their First Holy Communion at 10am Mass in St Patrick’s
Church on Saturday, 20th May 2017.
Our Primary 7 pupils’ Confirmation Mass will be Wednesday, 17th May 2017 in St Mirin’s Cathedral
at 7pm.
PE
Our pupils are entitled to 2 hours of PE per week. To participate safely in PE it is important that
children wear appropriate clothing. Children should wear shorts (not denim or shorts with zips and
buttons), T-shirt and soft shoes (sandshoes or trainers). For ease of changing, children would be
more comfortable if they came to school on PE days wearing a polo shirt. Children are not permitted
to do PE while wearing jewellery; it would be easier if children did not wear any jewellery to school on
PE days, as staff are not allowed to piercings for children. Children in P1 only require a pair of
sandshoes to change into for now. For health and safety reasons, children should bring a change of
shoes (sandshoes or trainers) for PE rather than wear outdoor trainers in our hall. No football
kits/strips/shorts to be worn. Below is a reminder of PE days for each class…
