We, the members of Drake University Student Senate, in an effort to support the overall functioning of the Student Senate, and
to better the experience of Drake University students, and to provide a memorable experience to students in culmination with
experience with the Student Senate, do hereby move to approve the following appointment-nominations by the Executive
Members of the Drake University Student Senate.

RESOLUTION SS [150924] – A; Drake University Student Senate Vision Statement
To express support and commitment to the Vision Statement of the 29 th Session of Drake University Student Senate.
1.
Whereas, the purpose of this Vision Statement is to guide the Student Senate in its functions and reflect how the 29th
session wants campus to look at the end of the academic year;
2.
Whereas, the Vision Statement was crafted by the Student Senate and has been analyzed since then;
3.
Whereas, each member of Student Senate has multiple goals that they can work on based on the language of the
Vision Statement;
4.
Whereas, Executive Officers and Student Senators shall work with Student Senate committee members, campus
administrators, student life advisors, faculty members, and anyone else deemed relevant in order to achieve said
goals;
5.
Whereas, having a Vision Statement shall allow the student body to understand what their Student Senate is working
towards and to keep their elected officials held accountable;
Now, therefore, be it
Resolved. That the 29th Session of Drake University Student Senate supports the Drake University Student Senate Vision
Statement and commits to align their efforts to fulfill the Vision Statement.
We, the members of Drake University Student Senate, in an effort to support the overall functioning of the Student Senate, and
to better the experience of Drake University students, and to provide a memorable experience to students in culmination with
experience with the Student Senate, do hereby move to approve the following appointment-nominations by the Executive
Members of the Drake University Student Senate.

MOTION SS [150924] – B; Student Senate Committee Approvals
To approve the nominations made by Student Body President, Vice President of Student Life, and Vice President of Student
Activities, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Drake University Student Senate.
6.
Whereas, it is the responsibility of the Student Body President, Vice President of Student Life, and Vice President of
Student Activities to present the Student Senate with the nominations for Student Senate Committee Members;
7.
Whereas, it is within the Student Senate’s purview to approve or reject said nominations;
8.
Whereas, it is the duty of Student Senate Committee members to assist in the functioning and goals of the Drake
University Student Senate;
9.
Whereas, those listed below are fully deserving of the positions for which they have been nominated and are qualified
for membership into the Drake University Student Senate;
10. Whereas, the duties filled by all committee members are necessary for the proper functioning of the Drake University
Student Government;

MOTION SS [150924] – C; Student Appointments to University Committees
To approve the nominations made by Student Body President, Vice President of Student Life, and Vice President of Student
Activities, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Drake University Student Senate.
1.
Whereas, it is the responsibility of the Student Body President, Vice President of Student Life, and Vice President of
Student Activities to present the Student Senate with the nominations for University Standing Committee Student
Members;
2.
Whereas, it is within the Student Senate’s purview to approve or reject said nominations;
3.
Whereas, it is the duty of Student members nominated and appointed to assist in the functioning and goals of the
Drake University Standing Committees;
4.
Whereas, those listed below are fully deserving of the positions for which they have been nominated and are qualified
for positions on the Drake University Standing Committees;
5.
Whereas, the duties filled by the committee members are necessary for the proper functioning of the Drake University
Standing Commitees;

We, the members of Drake University Student Senate, in an effort to support programming that improves student life, to better
the experience of Drake University students, and to provide a memorable experience to students, do hereby move that
$4,955.00 be allocated to the Drake Lacrosse Club to cover costs associated with purchasing lacrosse equipment.

MOTION SS [150924] – D; Drake Lacrosse Club
To approve the recommendation made by the Student Fees Allocation Committee (SFAC), in accordance with the Rules and
Regulations of the Drake University Student Senate.
1.
Whereas, the Drake Lacrosse Club is a growing organization whose goal is to teach the sport of Lacrosse to
interested newcomers and keep the game in the lives of those who have experience playing in the past;
2.
Whereas, the purchase of proper lacrosse equipment results in a more authentic and enjoyable experience for
everyone and ensures that all players that would like to participate in club practices can do so safely;
3.
Whereas, the Drake Lacrosse Club provides an additional way for students to stay in shape and explore new
opportunities at Drake;
4.
Whereas, the Drake Lacrosse Club currently consists of approximately 11 full-time members and 20 part-time
members;
5.
Whereas, only 3 members of the current Drake Lacrosse Club have the ability to self-provide lacrosse
equipment;
6.
Whereas, the Drake Lacrosse Club has been officially recognized by the Drake University Student Senate since
the spring of 2010;
7.
Whereas, the plans for Drake Lacrosse Club’s proposed funding request have been in talks since the 2013-2014
school year;
8.
Whereas, the allocations are consistent with the Drake University Student Life Handbook;
Now therefore, be it:
Moved. That, Drake University Student Senate allocates $4,955.00 to the Drake Lacrosse Club to cover costs associated with
purchasing lacrosse equipment.
