SUGGESTED TIME: 5 MINUTES

SAY:
-
In Hollywood Highlight Reel, you will receive a prize for reciting the memory verse on
the fourth and final week of the series, which is NEXT WEEK (29 Jan).
During Hollywood Highlight Reel we are going to learn about ‘reel’ and lasting
friendship according to God’s word and some of our favorite animated movies.
Our memory verse this series is Proverbs 27:17. Look up in bible and let’s read
together. It is a great verse that helps us remember how to make each other better
through our friendships.
DO: Hold up the memory verse poster and have kids repeat after you. Keep rehearsing until
kids get it.
- Proverbs 27:17 (open, close, open hands)
- “As iron sharpens iron (Brush hands against one another)
- So one person (Point 1 finger up)
- Sharpens another.” (Brush hands against one another)

START AFTER LARGE GROUP TIME 9.55/11.55 (APPROX)
EPHESIANS 4:31-32
FRIENDS FORGIVE EACH OTHER
SUGGESTED TIME: 5-8 MINUTES
SUPPLIES: BIBLES, BIBLE PASSAGE CARD
ASK:
- Why did Ralph have to ask Vanellope’s forgiveness in Wreck It Ralph? (For wrecking her car!)
- How many of you have ever had to ask for forgiveness? (Allow kids to respond.)
READ: Read Ephesians 4:31-32. Help kids find in their Bibles.
SAY: “We have all done bad things - sometimes we’re mean, sometimes we lie or hurt people’s
feelings. The Bible calls those bad things sin. When Jesus came and died on the cross for our sin, He
made a way for God to forgive us for our sins. All we have to do to get that forgiveness is ask!
What do you think forgiveness means? (Allow kids to respond.)
When God forgave us, He chose to take all the bad things we’ve ever done and will ever do,
and never look at them again! That means that even when you mess up, God never sees you as a
failure. God looks at you with love, even when you do something bad!
How can we forgive each other like God forgives us? (Allow kids to respond.)
'Reel' friends mess up sometimes and say or do mean things. But even when they mess up, 'reel' friends
forgive each other!”
GROW: CAMERA
GOOD-BYE CY-BUG
DISCUSSION ACTIVITY
SUGGESTED TIME: 8-10 MINUTES
SUPPLIES: FINGER FOAM FLYER (3 PER eGROUP), TAPE, FORGIVENESS TRUE OR FALSE CARDS,
CY-BUG TARGET (1 PER eGROUP)
SAY: “Sometimes we don’t ask forgiveness because asking forgiveness is hard! But did you know that
tiny, little arguments can turn into much bigger problems when we don’t ask forgiveness? When we
return to Large Group we’ll watch another clip of Wreck-It Ralph, where some dangerous
pests, called cy-bugs, are destroying everything. It only takes one cy-bug to lay thousands of
eggs that can ruin an entire video game world! What’s easier to fight? One cy-bug or a million
cy-bugs? (Allow kids to respond.) That's right!
Just like it’s way easier to get rid of one cy-bug before it lays eggs, it’s better to ask forgiveness right
away than to wait for more problems to hatch!
For our next activity, you are going to be shooting bugs AND practicing forgiveness! Listen carefully
to how this will work.”
DO: Play ‘Good-bye Cy-Bug.’
• Divide the eGroup area in half with a line of tape. Kids sit on one side. The other side is the target
zone. When it is not their turn, kids must sit down.
• Each kid will get a turn to answer a true or false question about forgiveness from the Forgiveness True
or False Cards.
• For large eGroups, have two kids come up to the line and answer the true/false statement together.
• If the answer is false, ask: What is wrong with that statement? What is the truth about forgiveness?
• After they answer their question, they get to take three shots at the cy-bug with the finger foam flyer.
• The eGroup leader will hold the cy-bug that is attached to a stick in the air. They can move the cy-bug
anywhere in the target zone. The kid can move anywhere on their side of the line.
• A moving target will be more difficult to hit so consider holding the target still, changing positions for
each shot, for younger kids.
• Play until every kid has had the opportunity to answer a question.
SAY: “Great job, everyone! Don’t let a little problem turn into a dangerous cy-bug! Remember to ask
forgiveness and forgive others right away, because 'reel' friends forgive each other.”
GROW: ACTION
FORGIVENESS 500
GAME ACTIVITY
SUGGESTED TIME: 5-8 MINUTES
SUPPLIES: NONE
SAY: “Before we begin our last activity, LET’S PRAY and ask God for the faith and courage to ask
forgiveness and forgive our friends when we sin!”
“God, thank you for sending your Son Jesus to die on the cross and forgiving our sins so we could
forgive others. Help up to put away anger and fighting and arguing and be kind to one another.
Help up to practice forgiveness this week. Amen.”
SAY: Did you know race cars go so fast that the tiniest piece of trash on the track could cause
a huge wreck? That’s how sin works too - a tiny problem can make a big obstacle if we don’t take care
of it! In this game, I’m going to throw some obstacles your way, and you are going to have to react
quickly in order to stay in the race!”
DO: Play ‘Forgiveness 500.’
• Kids stand in the middle of the eGroup area.
• Explain the following obstacles and the actions associated with them.
• Pit stop = kneel on the ground
• Banana peel = jump
• Spin out = spin around one time
• Left Lane = run to the left
• Right Lane = run to the right
• Forgiveness 500= link arms with someone
• Have a practice round to get kids familiar with all the actions.
• Call out the obstacles listed above in any order, increasing in speed as you go.
• Kids who delay or do the wrong action are eliminated.
• The last kid in the game is the winner.
• If time allows play the game again.
• For an additional challenge, eGroup leader can demonstrate one action while calling another. This
will challenge the kids to listen and not just copy what the eGroup leader is doing.
