Introduction
The majority of games still implement simple touchand-drag interfaces: easiest to program and not a lot
of innovation is required to port them from desktop
computers to mobile devices.
 Few games offer novel experiences using the
opportunities of touchscreens and peripherals to
deliver a unique player experience.
 Inventing new and clever ways to interact with
tangible and haptic devices is not easy.
 Knowing what is possible and how to
implement it assists designers to
push the boundaries.

Summary



Touch and orientation mechanics as the primary
methods of user interaction in mobile games.
Touch provides a plethora of differing gameplay
experiences using series of single and multiple
touches, plus swipes and drags to interact with the
game environment.
Orientation and movement data in mobile games
using onboard accelerometers, allow for natural
motion input in the game world.
