Each team fields a starting lineup with players representing every
position (C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3 OF, and a Pitcher), ordered from 1 to 9.
•
Any position player can bat as a proxy (DH) for the Pitcher.
•
Bench and bullpen players may substitue for starters at any time,
but removed players may not return.
With each at bat, Pitcher and Batter stats from their trading cards are used to determine if the swing results in a hit. Both teams roll two
dice, adding the Batter Boost to the total. If this Swing Value equals or exceeds the adjusted Hit Bar, the result is a hit.
* ignore partial innings pitched (e.g., 252.1 = 252)
Pitcher Endurance
Pitcher Penalty
Innings Pitched* (IP) divided by the number of games played (G),
multiplied by three and rounded down (e.g., (252 / 34) x 3 = 22). This is the
maximum number of batters this pitcher can face in one game.
Ten times the Earned Run Average (ERA), rounded up
(e.g., 3.18 x 10 = 32). This lowers the Hit Bar for a plate
appearance, making it easier to get on base.
BATTER
Batter Endurance
Batter Boost
At Bats (AB) plus Walks (BB) divided by the maximum possible games
played (162), rounded up (e.g., (510 + 33) / 162 = 4). This is the maximum
number of plate appearances this batter can have in one game.
Hundred times the Batting Average (BA), rounded down
(e.g., .271 x 100 = 27). This increases the Swing Value for a
plate appearance, making it easier to get on base.
Baserunners can advance from third base to score on an error or fly out.
A ground out will always remove the lead runner (“Fielder’s Choice”).
Clutch Hitter Bonus: With runners on base, divide Runs
Batted In (RBI) by 10, rounded down (e.g., 84 / 10 = 8) and
add to the Swing Value.
The team at bat rolls 1d6 to
determine what happens to the
baserunner.

Each team rolls 2d6 for every at bat:
Two teams consist of 10-25 players each, selected in one of three ways:
1.
Field an All-Star team from your personal collection.
2.
Play with a complete set of cards for a single MLB team.
3.
Create a pool of 50 cards and alternate selecting players.
Each roster needs 9 batters and 1 pitcher, and up to 15 bench players.
If the Batter does NOT gets a hit ...
Toppers mirrors the rules of baseball, with three outs to a
side, two sides to an inning, and nine innings to a regulation
game. The action revolves around the Pitcher vs. Batter
matchup, using a combination of dice and player statistics
to determine whether the batter gets a hit or an out.

This boxscore simulation game brings value to old baseball
trading cards. Assemble starting lineups for two teams, and pit
hurler against hitter using dice and the back-of-card statistics to
determine the outcome. Remember to sing in the 7th inning.
