Rutherford Playtime Preschool Term 3 Newsletter 2016
(July, August, September) Jumping forward, hoping back! Skipping this way, sliding that!
Little bodies made to move, at school we love to learn and groove!
School Photos Our school photos took place last week and turned out fantastic. The Ladies at PixArt Photography did an amazing job this year. Hopefully we will get them to all parents in the next few weeks. Nursery Room Change. In our Nursery Room we have implemented a few changes. We have separated into two rooms. Miss Ashlea is the Room Leader of The Nursery Room (0yrs – 2 yrs) and Miss Jade is the Room Leader in the Tweenies Room (2yrs). It has been a fantastic change. Being able to do separate learning experiences and being able to tailor it to an age group has been beneficial for all the children. Programing – We have implemented a new way we program in all our rooms. We have moved away from all paper methods, and our programing is now electronic. Have a look at the computers in your child’s room for the program and daily reflections as well as parents and staff comments. Assessment and Rating Visit. On Wednesday 10th and Thursday the 11th our centre will be having its Assessment and rating. The assessment and rating process is designed to be a collaborative process between the service and regulatory authority, with opportunities for services to discuss how they are meeting the National Quality Standard and enhancing outcomes for children. ‐ See more at: http://www.acecqa.gov.au/national‐quality‐framework/assessments‐and‐

Family and Community Brothers and childcare workers Courtney and Jarrad Dober are trying to raise $80,000. Why, because they want to be able to manufacture and distribute a potentially life‐saving medical ID wristband to every child in Australia with Asthma, Allergies or Anaphylaxis at NO COST to parents and carer’s. The identification bands help to raise awareness of a child’s condition, and most importantly aid carers, friends, teachers, coaches, paramedics and the public to act quickly and use the most appropriate course of first aid should an incident ever occur. For any teacher, being on playground duty and trying to identify the difference between a puffed out child and an asthmatic child, is extremely difficult. Early identification leads to appropriate monitoring or treatment, that’s exactly what the “See & Save” wristbands do. Take a look at the video the brothers have created, and if you feel as surprised (and educated) by the alarming statistics as we did, please donate to the cause. Head over to https://pozible.com/project/seeandsave to watch the campaign video. The Social Netwrok for Rutherford. During the month of July the children spent some times exploring the monthly topic “our body”. During this times the children developed knowledge about all the different things their bodies can do. As well as becoming quite confident in identifying many of their body parts indie and out. Check out our Monthly display on the wall. ‘We also spent a week during July celebrating NADOC week, our children really enjoyed exploring all of the traditional activities from craft to the daily cooking experiences allowing the children a chance to cook and try some Aboriginal foods such as damper bread and kangaroo. August has only just begun and the children have sparked a great interest in the new monthly topic “the Olympics”. Rio 2016 games has made our pre‐school room really switched on during our group times and all children getting involved in sharing their knowledge and researching with their educators any questions that arise. We all are super excited to see where our Olympic topic takes our interest for the rest of the month. The end of the school year is fast approaching which means lots of our friends are getting ready for big school next year, Miss Aleshia and Miss Brookie ask that those parents of children who will be off to school next year please share with us what school they will be going to so we group them with buddies when working on school readiness. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about school readiness. Miss Aleshia and Miss Brookie!  Message from our Toddler Room. What a lovely term of learning and exploring with our beautiful toddler friends. The children are demonstrating more confidence with their self‐help skills as were growing up to be big girls and boys. Back to the topic of June we looked at seasons/weather and music. During this topic our friends helped identify the weather at group times also looking at the appropriate clothing for that type of season. Our children were very clever matching the appropriate clothing to the weather. The children also had lots of fun playing lots of different musical instruments and active group times. Through the month of July we focused on who am I? Human Movement. We looked at different body parts that’s our bodies are made up of and how manipulate our bodies to do different things like running, playing soccer, and drawing and to ride a bike. We also further in depth looked at our five senses of our bodies, sight, touch, taste, hear and smell. The children explored their senses through a number of sensory paintings and experiences like water beads, shaving foam, playdough (adding herbs and different sense), moon sand and nature trays. We also looked at who our families are made up of and family backgrounds during NADOC week. Now we are into the topic of August “the Olympics” The children have been really interested talking about different sports that will be played at the games. The children have been very creative making wonderful Olympic torches for our room display and we have even been looking at the Olympic rings, the five colours and talking about the shapes of the rings (circles). We have been extremely active practising our fundamental movement skills through playing musical freeze which the children have been really involved with. Our fundamental movement skills like hopping, jumping, galloping etc. We look forward to learning lots more fun active games for this month’s topic. We would love to see all our toddler friends come along with the family to our Mini Olympics day on the 19th of August. The children are having a lot of fun exploring their environment, showing a lot of respect towards our room and our friends around us. Miss Vicky, Mr David!!  Message from our Nursery Room. What an amazing couple of months we have had in the nursery. We have been through a big transformation with splitting the room into two. The educators feel this has been a positive outcome for all children in the younger room (the Nursery). We have been establishing relationships with our educator’s and each other. We have been focusing on our daily routine and how we can meet the needs of each child. In the next few weeks we aim to extend on our relationships to explore our interests. Our Older friends (the Tweenies) have come along in leaps and bounds. We have set our room into different learning areas and are demonstrating a variety of interest topics. We have been enjoying being a part of a group and are developing our independence and self‐help skills. We look forward to seeing how our friends continue to grow in their smaller learning environments. Miss Jade, Miss Ashlea, Miss Brooke and Miss Mon!!!  Our friends enjoying exploring their Environment
