CertainTeed Launches Its First Solar Reflective Shingle with Class IV Impact Resistance –
Landmark Solaris IR™
(Valley Forge, Pa.) – CertainTeed Corporation is leading the way with it latest advancement of
solar reflective roofing shingles that offer protection from the sun, impact, wind and algae. The
new Landmark Solaris IR™ shingles decrease the temperature of the roof by as much as 20
percent, meet the industry’s highest standards for impact resistance and provide protection
against staining or discoloration caused by roof algae growth.

expanded range of cool roofing products that offer enhanced weather performance attributes such

products with strong weather-resistant features without sacrificing a home’s curb appeal.”
Offered in an eye-catching color palette that includes Crystal Gray, Sunset Shake, Aged Cedar
and Dusky Clay, Landmark Solaris IR shingles feature special granules that reflect solar energy
better than traditional shingles. Engineered with a tough fiberglass scrim on its back surface for
increased durability, Landmark Solaris IR is tested to withstand the impact of a 2-inch steel ball
dropped from a height of 20 feet, without cracking and meets UL 2218 testing standards.
“Landmark Solaris IR is the ultimate green roofing shingle to protect against Mother Nature,
offering homeowners the added security against the uncertainties of nature’s elements,” adds

Backed by a lifetime limited transferable warranty, Landmark Solaris IR includes a 10-year
warranty against winds up to 90 miles per hour. When the shingles are installed with designated
accessory products, the wind warranty can be upgraded to 130 mph. In addition, the products
have a 10-year SureStart warranty protection and a 10-year StreakFighter coverage against the
affects of algae growth and meet UL Class A fire resistance.
Landmark Solaris IR shingles may qualify for credits through the Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design (LEED®), ENERGY STAR® and the National Association of Home
Builders’ Green Building Program. The product is also eligible for rebates through local utility
companies in select areas and federal tax credits through the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act of 2009.
