MIDDLE SOUTH PLATTE RIVER ALLIANCE: PROGRAM ASSISTANT
The successful applicant will be a motivated, independent, enthusiastic problem-solver who is
capable and willing to serve the larger purpose of restoring an environment and community that
survived a recent disaster. The Program Assistant will assist the watershed coordinator in
executing day-to-day management, outreach, education and administrative tasks. The assistant
will provide support for Middle South Platte River Alliance meetings, grant submittals and
tracking, and project implementation in a community of diverse situations and needs. This will
require communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge and perseverance. A willingness to
perform a variety of tasks, learn new skills and exercise high levels of creativity will be
necessary.

Primary Duties:
Ø Project Management and Volunteer Coordination: Provide assistance to the
Coordinator in using the Watershed Master Plan and the MSPRA Strategic Plan to
implement and evaluate priority programs and projects in an efficient and compliant
manner ensuring collaboration with all stakeholders. Initiate, support and track volunteer
projects. Research potential funding sources and assist with grant submissions. Track
project status during planning, implementation and monitoring phases.
Ø Coordinate Watershed Coalition activities: Provide assistance to the Coordinator in
leading decisions and strategies for the Alliance. Assist and support the continued
development of the MSPRA as a non-profit organization. Research and support the
status of grants, project planning and implementation status and other opportunities
pertinent to the Watershed Coalition. Assist in preparing meeting agendas, taking
minutes, interface with stakeholders, preparing presentations or handouts and other
logistical needs of the Coalition.
Ø Community Outreach and Education: Assist in the creation and maintenance of a
stakeholder database. Communicate strategies, projects and news about the watershed to
all landowners and stakeholders using the appropriate media for each target audience.
Represent the coalition at existing community events. Leverage resources from various
volunteer organizations. Prepare outreach materials, PowerPoint presentations and
displays. Development of an interactive and engaging website and other social media
platforms. Assist in increasing the scope and scale of outreach efforts in order to engage
the larger Weld County community as well as surrounding areas.
Ø Organizational Sustainability: Assist and support all administrative and program
management activities. This includes regulatory compliance, accounting and budgeting,
collecting and tracking data and preparing reports. Assist with office administration
including equipment maintenance, office supplies etc. This effort will increase over time
to assure long-term organizational sustainability.
Required Qualifications
Ø Bachelor's Degree and 3 - 5 years experience working in a professional environment.
Marketing, Public Affairs, Business Administration, Natural Resource Management,
Emergency Management or other related fields of study and experience are preferred.
GIS experience would be helpful but not required.
Ø Ability to prepare meeting materials, presentations and assist in the facilitation of
meetings.
Ø Creative, innovative and passionate about social equity, community resiliency and
ecological health.
Ø Excellent skills in interpersonal relationships, organizational effectiveness, community
outreach, writing, presentation and public relations
Ø Ability to work independently, establish work priorities and manage time effectively.
Must be able to demonstrate high levels of organization.
Ø Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint), ability
and willingness to learn new computer applications, website development and
maintenance. Microsoft Access or other relational database experience would be helpful
but not required.
Ø Reliable and insured personal transportation. Ability to occasionally attend multi-day
conferences, work evenings and weekends.
Ø Physical ability to hike sometimes remote, strenuous conditions and lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to pass a Background Security Check.
