Our hope is that you may be interested in participating in one or both of these critical services. As a sponsor for Thanksgiving Baskets, we ask that you provide the ingredients for a complete Thanksgiving meal for a family in need; many local businesses, churches and organizations sponsor a number of families each year. We provide a suggested shopping list to aid in your endeavor. We generally provide over 500 baskets each year. Sponsors for Christmas Adopt-a-Family are matched with families in need, based on their preferred criteria. Sponsors are provided with a list of needs for each child 14 and under in their matched family as well as any needs identified by the family as a whole. Oftentimes parents list items their children need as well as those they would like. Sponsors are free to choose from this list to shop for their family; there is not an expectation that sponsors will purchase every item suggested. We enroll 100 families each year. A sponsorship application is enclosed for your convenience; you may indicate that you would like to again sponsor both programs or select one. A few things to note: We will distribute Thanksgiving Baskets November 23 – 25 and ask that all donated items be at Scott’s Run Settlement House no later than November 21. Our goal is to provide sponsors with information for their Christmas families by November 17 so that you may take advantage of Black Friday sales! We will distribute Christmas items to families as they arrive; please feel free to bring items after December 1 but by December 15 at the latest. Please consider helping families in need this holiday season by returning your sponsor form as soon as possible. Should you have any questions regarding either of these programs or other services available through Scott’s Run Settlement House, please get in touch at (304) 599-5020. Thank you for helping us to make a difference in our community.
