Community Outreach Team
Goals
 Engage the community in effort to keep students in
school; provide information about daytime curfew laws
and truancy
 Create partnerships with community stakeholders
 Educate community businesses about Student
Recovery Day efforts and the importance of school
attendance
 Post information regarding attendance law in receptive
businesses
Community Outreach Information
 Community outreach volunteers will be placed in teams
and asked to visit businesses in the community
 Be prepared when walking in the community
 Wear comfortable shoes, hat, sunscreen
 Make sure to take water and stay hydrated
 For safety purposes, as you walk through the
community remember to be vigilant
 Community outreach team members will be assigned a
task to include a spokesman, recorder and someone to
distribute the handouts/flyers

Procedures
DO:
 Be mindful and respectful of community
businesses
 Have maps and correct locations for visits to
local businesses in the area
 Wear your identification badge
 Introduce yourself and explain the purpose of
your visit
 Use suggested Community Outreach Tips and
Reminders to initiate conversation with
businesses
 Log all contacts on the Business Contact Log
 Post Business Handouts and provide
Educational Options Flyer to businesses
interested in supporting SRD efforts
 Have at least one cell phone per team
(recommended)
DO NOT:
 Confront anyone on the
street/business
 Place your team in dangerous
situation - leave immediately
 Jaywalk - use crosswalks
 Post materials without permission
