As parents/guardians you should see a family household screen with the names of
your family members associated with Girl Scouts.
On the top right you will see it says CURRENT YEAR. The information you see on the
screen is for this current membership year 2015-2016.
Household
view
This year view
On the same screen where it says CURRENT YEAR, that is a drop down menu.
Pick NEXT YEAR to get to the 2016-2017 program year screen.
Has a drop
down menu
On THE NEXT YEAR screen you will see a Renewal Choice column. Each household
member has a drop down menu with the choices RENEW, DON’T RENEW, AND I’LL
DECIDE LATER. Pick RENEW to re-register all household members who will be
returning for the 2016-2017 program year.
Renewal choices has a
drop down menu that
lets you pick RENEW,
DON’T RENEW, OR I’LL
DECIDE LATER per
person.
You will then come to a screen that has you read and accept the Girl Scout
Promise and Law for all the household members you are re-registering.
Read and
accept the
GS Promise
and The Law
before
continuing.
Once you have accepted The Promise and The Law and hit continue, you will see the
screen to enter your payment information. This screen will show you everyone for
whom you selected RENEW and the total amount for membership renewal.
Payment screen
shows all
household
members for
whom you
selected RENEW
and total for all
renewals
New feature! You can now share with friends and family on social media the great
news that you have registered for another year of fun with Girl Scouts! By sharing,
you’ll help inform and inspire other families to connect to Girl Scouts.
Now you can share on social media when you
renew!
This is what the social media post looks like.
Once your payment has gone through you will see a receipt screen showing everyone
you have re-registered. The screen will show all the girls and their troop, all adults
with how they are participating, and the total paid.
Please keep a copy for your records.
You will also receive an email to your inbox confirming your renewed registration(s)
with the information for everyone you have renewed. Please keep a copy for your
records. (Note: If you do not receive an email in your inbox,
check your spam or clutter.)
Sample: Email that parents get when they have completed renewing.
Troop leaders will also receive an email in their inbox letting them know someone has
renewed registration to the troop. This will prompt troop leaders to check their Next
Year troop roster . (Note: If you have marked anyone DO NOT RENEW the leaders will also
receive an email letting them know someone in their troop is not renewing their membership.)
Sample: Email that leaders get letting them know someone has
renewed in their troop.
Now when you return to the NEXT YEAR screen it shows everyone whose registration
has been renewed. It will also show if you chose DO NOT RENEW or
I’LL DECIDE LATER. IMPORTANT! I’LL DECIDE LATER will only hold a spot in a troop until July
1st. . After July 1st that spot in the troop will open to the general public.
Now the next year screen shows the
renewal(s).
This slide is an example of a troop screen leaders see. Troop leaders have the option
to renew registration for their troop members. Troop leaders choosing this option
may contact parents/guardians of the troop members to explain how they will handle
troop renewals , and of course, you can always ask. (Note: Troop leaders can also choose
DO NOT RENEW and I’LL DECIDE LATER for members of their troop.)
Your daughter’s troop
leader has the ability and
may also choose to assist
families and renew the
members of the troop as
a troop, as well as mark
members that are not
returning.
Speak to your troop leader
to see if this is going to
be an option for your
daughter’s troop and if so
how to arrange for
payment of the renewal
membership.
This is the new troop view leaders will see as of April 1st.
For troop leaders with more then one troop, look to the left for the troop number , and you’ll
find a drop-down menu. If you log into MY GS, enter your user name and profile and do not see
a troop tab, contact your Membership Services Specialist to make sure you are marked as the
active primary volunteer for your troop (s), and your troop program level is correct . If you
don’t know who your Membership Services Specialist is, please call 1-800-462-9100 .
The CURRENT YEAR troop view will show everyone’s status in your troop for the
2015-2016 program year .
If someone is returning after a membership lapse where they were not registered, either you
or they will have to contact the council office to be able to register them “backdoor” for the
2016-2017 membership year as this will not show as an option for them. Call 1-800-462-9100.
Troop roster view leaders
will see stating April 1st
People that did not renew for
this year’s membership
(2015-2016)
On the right side of the screen where it says CURRENT YEAR , this is a drop down
menu. Select NEXT YEAR.
When parents/guardians re-register or select DO NOT RENEW OR I’LL DECIDE LATER,
you will see this selection on the NEXT YEAR screen.
Click the drop down menu to select
next year
On the NEXT YEAR screen, each person in your troop will have a drop down
menu for them in the RENEW CHOICE column. If they have not already
renewed, this is where you can select options for them individually.
Drop down menu lets you pick RENEW,
DON’T RENEW, OR I’LL DECIDE LATER
You will then come to a screen that has you read and accept the Girl Scout
Promise and Law for all the troop members for whom
you are renewing registration.
Read and accept
the GS Promise
and The Law
before continuing.
Once you have accepted the Promise and the Law and hit continue, you will
be taken to a payment screen which will show everyone you selected for
registration renewal and the total amount due.
Payment screen shows everyone for
whom the leader selected RENEW
Once payment has been made for all memberships you are renewing, you will
receive a renewal receipt. Please keep a copy for your records.
Best Practice: We strongly encourage troop leaders to have a parent meeting BEFORE
renewing troop member registrations to discuss how you will handle renewal payment
in your troop.
Sample : Leader renewal receipt everyone that the
leader renewed.
Once payment has been made the NEXT YEAR troop screen will show anyone that you
re-registered to the troop. Leaders will also see when someone has re-registered or
marked themselves as DO NOT RENEW or I”LL DECIDE LATER
on their own to the troop.
Now Next Year’s screen shows
everyone that the leader or
parent renewed, the leader or
parent picked I’ll decide later
or Do not renew
Just as leaders can renew registrations for members of their troop , they can and need
to also mark someone they know is not returning as DO NOT RENEW.
Parents/guardians receive an email letting them know that a troop leader has either
renewed membership for their daughter or marked them as DO NOT RENEW.
Sample: Email letting parents know the leader marked their daughter as Do
NOT RENEW.
When a leader renews a girl (s) the parents also get an email letting them
know their daughter has been re-registered.
Leaders will receive an email in their inbox when someone has renewed or
marked themselves DO NOT RENEW to the troop on their own. This should
prompt you to go to your troop’s NEXT YEAR screen to see who it is.
Sample: Email leaders get letting them know someone has renewed
in their troop.
New Feature: When leaders are on the troop tab for the next year they can scroll to the bottom of the page
and pick add a new member. There is a drop down to select girl or adult. If the member is a current member
of Girl Scouts that is not currently in your troop you should see a message showing that the system has found
them to be an existing member , would you like to add them to your troop. This is how leaders can register
members coming to their troop from other troops. Make sure the person is marked DO NOT RENEW in their
previous troop for the next year.
