BASKETBALL TEAM
Winners the Golden Jubilee All Kerala Inter Collegiate
Basketball tournament held at Assumption College
Changanaserry
Winners in the 33rd South India Inter Collegiate Basketball
tournament for Baselius Trophy ,held at Kottayam on 23 rd-30th of
August 2013.
Secured 3rd place in the 21st Karunya Evangeline Memorial
South India level Basketball tournament held at Coimbatore.
Winners in the M.G. University Intercollegiate Basketball
Championship held in our college
Participated in the Senior State Basketball Championship held at
Kerala Varma College,Thrissur.
Winners in the All Kerala Inter Collegiate Basketball tournament
held at Women’s College, Trivandrum
Winners in the 21st P S Viswappan Memorial All Kerala Inter
Collegiate Basketball tournament held at Y M C A, Alappuzha .
Winners in the 42nd Union
Christian College Basketball
tournament held at U C College, Aluva.
ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE PLAYERS FOR THE YEAR 2013-14
Libina M J, Shruti Ramesan, Annat George, Angel C Varghese ,
Ramzeena Ali M A and Chippy Mathew represented M G University in
the South –West Zone Basketball Championship held at Vijayawada , Andra
Pradesh on 21st -24th December 2013 and secured 2nd place. They also
secured 3rd place in the All India Inter University Basketball championship
held at Andra pradesh from 26th – 29th of December 2013.
CHIPPY MATHEW
Kum. Chippy Mathew participated Kerala in the Senior National
Basketball Championship, held at New Delhi on 23rd February 2014.
LIBINA M J
Kum. Libina M J were the member of the Winning Kerala team (2nd Place) for
the Federation Cup Basketball Championship, held at Gujarat from 3rd – 9th
January, 2014.
ANJU MATHEW
Anju Mathew represented KeralaState for the Women’s National
Basketball championship held at Bhopal on 1st – 6th December 2013.
VOLLEYBALL
COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL TEAM
Our college Volleyball team participated in various All Kerala inter
collegiate tournaments.
 Participated in the All India Inter Collegiate Volleyball Tournament for
Kanichai Memorial Ever rolling Trophy organized by St. Joseph’s
College, Irinjalakuda.
 Runners up in the Msgr. Augustine Maveli Memorial All Kerala Inter
Collegiate Volleyball tournament organized by our College.
 Winners in the Ernakulam District Youth Volleyball championship
held at Vavakkad,
 Winners in the Ernakulam District Women’s Volleyball championship
held at Panampilly nagar, Ernakulam
 Winners in an Exhibition match played against Ernakulum sixes held at
Kanggazha, Kottayam.
 Runners up in an Exhibition match played against St. Teresa’s College ,
Ernakulam
 Third place in the Ernakulum District Senior women’s volleyball
championship held at Maliyankkara.
Kum Anjaly Ayyappan ,Jelshy Johnson, Greety Maria Varghese , Anjana
Joseph and Umadevi S were the members of the Ernakulam District Volleyball
team for the State championship held at Kollam.
NETBALL
The M.G. University Intercollegiate Netball Championship was held at U C
College, Aluva on 4th & 5th of February 2014, and our college team secured
the Runners up Trophy. Ms Shruthy Rameshan, Ms Anju Mathew, Ms Surya
Ravindran and Ms Ramzeena Ali M A ,got selection to the M G University
Netball team.
KABADDI
Our college Kabaddi team participated in various All Kerala inter collegiate
tournaments held at Parur, Eloor and Varapuzha and M G University
championship held at CMS College, Kottayam
ATHLETICS
COLLEGE ATHLETICS TEAM 2013-14
The 57th Ernakulum District Athletic Meet was held on 30th August to 1st
September 2013, and our college team secured Team championship in the
Women’s Category. Our Athletics team won the overall championship in
Aluva Municipality Keralosavam Athletic Meet held at Municipality Ground,
Aluva on 12th October 2013.Our Athletic team also participated in the M G
University Athletic championship held at Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam on 6 th
and 7th of December 2013.
SPORTS DAY
Annual Intramural Sports competitions were organized at the college
sports complex on 14th of February 2014. Various events were conducted for
the Students, Teaching and Non teaching staff and the department of English
won the Overall Championship.
During the Academic Week the Physical Education Department organized a
Yoga Demostration class by Smt. Geetha Balakrishnan , Yoga expert from
Sree Eamakrishna Ashramam, Kalady, for the students on 30th January 2013.
HEALTH CLUB
Many of the teaching staff and students besides the sportspersons are
using the facilities available in the health club regularly.
SPORTS AND GAMES
The Department of Physical Education organized the 20 th Msgr.
Augustine Maveli Memorial All Kerala Inter Collegiate Volleyball tournament
and 20th Rev. Sr. Redempta Memorial All Kerala Inter Intercollegiate
Basketball tournaments from 4th -7th of February 2014. Eight Women teams
from different parts of Kerala participated in the championship.Shri.P J
Stephen, Vice President of our PTA, inaugurated the Volley ball championship.
St.Joseph’s College Irinjalakuda was the Champions and the Runners up
trophy secured by our College. During the inaugural match of the Basketball
tournament, the Chief Guest was Mr. Eudrick Piererra, Indian International
Basketball player and Inspector of Central Excise and Customs, Kochi. Our
college Basket ball team lifted the trophy defeating Providence College
Kozhikode, in the finals. In the valedictory function, Shri Subhash Shenoy,
Indian International Basketball player and Inspector of Central Excicse and
Customs , Kochi distributed prizes to the winners. Ms. Libina M J was
selected as the best player of the tournament
