Adding An Image To A Page – Quick Reference Guide

Adding An Image To A Page – Quick Reference Guide
1) Using the standard ‘Title, Text & Image’ template, click on the
'Empty Image' element to select it. You should notice that the red dotted line
around the element should become more prominent:
2) Click on the 'Show Image Properties' icon on the toolbar:
3) A new window will open entitled Asset Manager:
4) At this point you can select an existing image contained with the Asset
Manager by clicking upon the image itself to select it. Otherwise if you wish to
upload a new image then click on 'Add Asset' to reveal the 'Add New Asset'
window:
6) Select Browse next to the 'Binary File' field to select the image from the
relevant file on your computer.
Give the image a name by completing the Asset Title field. The name that you
input into here will be how the file is stored in the website filing system (the Asset
Manager) and also how it is referred to on the web page.
Complete the Alternate Text field. This is to aid blind users who are unable to
see the image on the website. A short description of the image should be entered
in this field. When the page goes live on the website the text that is entered
in here, will be displayed in a baloon when the users cursor hovers over the
image. Please note that you will be unable to save your image to the system if
the Alternate Text field is not completed.
7) Click on Categories. To help locate images in the Asset Manager in future, then
should be put in the appropriate area of the website. This is achieved by checking
the box next to the appropriate category:
8) Select Save Asset
There is now the option to add a Caption to your image. This adds a title
underneath the image and places a thin border around it. This is optional and can
be left blank if you wish. Please note that the caption does not appear in Draft
mode, only in Preview mode or when the page has been published. Preview mode
can be selected by clicking the white page with magnifying glass symbol on the
toolbar.
9) Click on Select Asset
10) Click on Save Asset
The image will now be viewable on your page.
11) Select 'Save & Publish' on the toolbar to make the image available on the live
website.
For guidance on image sizes and their corresponding file sizes refer to the UK
Athletics Web Publishing Guidelines document.
