Michael Jon Hogue was a Gaslamp Quarter business owner deeply involved in the redevelopment
of the neighborhood. Michael was one of the Gaslamp’s true pioneers that crafted a vision for the
area and then tirelessly volunteered to make that vision a reality. Michael believed the area could be
something special and he generously contributed his time and resources to help create this vibrant,
historic neighborhood. The Gaslamp Quarter is considered to be the “Heart of San Diego” and
Michael will always be remembered with respect and admiration as the heart of the Gaslamp. This
golf tournament, started by Michael as a fundraiser for the Gaslamp Quarter Association, is named
to honor him and his vision.
