OUA/OABO Prospects Camp
This camp will run in conjunction with the Ontario Basketball U19 Girl’s Provincial
Championship in Kitchener Waterloo, May 5-7. The camp pre tournament meeting will
be at 2:30 pm on the 5th at the host hotel. Camp will end on the 7th mid afternoon. This
is a highly competitive tournament. Games will be officiated using three person
crews. This is an excellent opportunity for officials lo gain further experience in the three
person system. This is not a camp for those with no three person experience.
Officials should come to camp physically fit and prepared to officiate a highly skilled and
very competitive level of basketball.
The ideal candidate for this camp is an official with five or more years experience who is
currently officiating at the OCAA level. A successful performance at this camp would
be a good stepping stone to the Elite Camp. This camp would benefit OUA
officials who are building their schedules and would like to work on their
leadership skills. This camp would also benefit those working in the CBL, or
looking to be hired for that league. Those officials that are looking to move from
Level 2 to Level 3, or building their provincial profile for consideration for national
appointments should also consider this camp.
The camp staff will include Mario Suffoletta, Anna Del Col & Rich Stehlik(OUA, FIBA
carded officials), Guy Cipriano (fomrer OUA official, currentOUA observer), Tom
Christie, (OUA Supervisor), Brigg Harvey (OUA Director of Officials), Mike McPhee
(OABO Provincial Supervisor). Ray Samuels (CBL) and Mike Falloon (NBL) have also
been invited to attend.
Cost for the camp is $380. This includes two night’s accommodation at the Radisson
Hotel Kitchener Waterloo. Each room has two queen beds, microwave and fridge. Free
parking, cable and internet access as well as a complimentary hot breakfast each
morning is included. The registration fee also covers a camp t-shirt, Fox 40 whistle,
nightly social and a video tape of your floor work.
The registration fee if you do not require accommodation is $300.
Interested officials should complete the registration form. A cheque, made payable to
the OABO Development Camp, to cover the camp registration fee, should be forwarded
