REIGATE SQUASH CLUB LEAGUE RULES

REIGATE SQUASH CLUB LEAGUE RULES
-
All matches will be the best of 5 games, under normal SRA rules.
-
Cycles will last for seven weeks, with the exceptions of those cycles containing
the annual tournament, and the Christmas break, both of which will last eight
weeks.
-
Each league will consist of seven players, where the two highest scorers will
normally be promoted, and the two lowest relegated. New entrants will normally
come into a league of eight, when three players will be relegated.
-
League results and associated points must be submitted using the online league
functionality.
-
If at the end of a cycle, two or more players are tied on points, the result of the
match played between them will be taken into account. If this proves to be
inconclusive, then the number of matches won in the cycle will be taken into
account, then the number of games won, then the number of matches played,
and finally, the number of games conceded.
-
In the event of a match being incomplete at the end of playing time, then the
players should make every attempt to complete the match at a later date
(retaining the completed game scores). If they are unable to complete the
match, then the completed game scores and associated points should be added
onto the score sheet.
-
If a player has to retire during a match because of injury, then any uncompleted
games will be awarded to the opponent.
-
If a player does not play in any match during the league cycle, then they will be
excluded from the next cycle.
-
If a player withdraws from a cycle, they MUST submit a re-entry request using
the form on the website if they wish to be included in the next cycle. If they do
not do this, they will not be included.

A walkover may be awarded if: someone does not challenge (and their opponent
contacts them to tell them they would like to claim a walkover); if a player fails to
turn up for an arranged match; if a player has to withdraw part way through the
league.
-
A failure to challenge does not mean an automatic awarding of points to the
opponent. If the opponent wishes to claim a walkover, then they must
proactively contact the challenger themselves to indicate that they are doing so.
-
If a player is unable to complete a cycle (due to injury, business commitments
etc), then they should award walkover points to those people they have not yet
played. If they have played more than one match, the results of those matches
will stand; if they have only played one match, then this result will be
disregarded, and a walkover awarded.
-
In the event of a circumstance arising not covered by these comprehensive rules,
the league secretary’s decision will be final.
