DENVER BRONCOS QUOTES (9/4/16) RUNNING BACK C.J. ANDERSON On the importance of running the football against Carolina “We’re just going to play the game that we need to play. Do I still think that we’re going to go throw the ball to figure out the quarterback situation, yes. When we do get our runs, myself, [RB Devontae Booker] ‘Book’, [RB] Ronnie [Hillman] and [RB] Kapri [Bibbs], we just have to hit our spots and go. That’s what we’ve been doing. We just want to take that next step in our room.” On the difference between this matchup with Carolina “Different teams, not really. Same scheme-wise probably, but it’s different teams. We’re a lot different and they’re a lot different. A lot of people that they had in that game last year are not there and vice versa with us.” On being a veteran now “I hadn’t really sat and thought, now that you say it. It came up pretty quick. It’s an entertaining business. Let me just stay on my Ps and Qs so I can keep my feet on this ground here.” On if it was tough losing RB Ronnie Hillman “Super tough, he’s a good player. A lot of people say what they want to say about him, but Ronnie can play football. He can protect, he can run and he can catch the ball out of the backfield. He has that and the speed element that he has is something that I lack so it was fun to watch him, but it’s a business and those are the decisions that they made and we’re still good in our room. We’re still deep in depth in our room, [RB Devontae] Booker, myself and [RB] Kapri [Bibbs]. we’ll be fine.” On how happy he is for Bibbs to earn a roster sport “Super happy. Just seeing a kid, the way that he grew up, I can relate to [him] completely. The fact that he came out here every day and worked. He was on practice squad for two years and came out and worked. He’s finally getting that opportunity so I just told him to hold on to it, it’s not over, you just made that one step, keep going.” On the importance of running the ball against Carolina “I don’t know if it’s just to take pressure off of [QB] Trevor [Siemian]. I think we want to run the ball because that’s what we want to do. It’s going to be tough. This is a good defense, really good, we know that. We know what players they have over there, but we also know what we have to. Of course we’re going to run the ball, stay on track and keep things simple for us.” On if it’s advantage playing with a quarterback that other teams have not seen a lot of “I have no idea. I can’t tell you. Is it an advantage when you put in a new video game and you never played that level? You might die a couple of times (laughs). You might get to level two, so it kind of goes that way.” ©2016 Denver Broncos Football Club. All rights reserved. On how the offensive line has meshed together “I think it gelled well. We had some injuries and we’ve got some people banged up, but three of those guys, [C] Matt [Paradis], [G] Max [Garcia] and [OL] Ty [Sambrailo] played in the system. They have a year under it and they’re a lot more comfortable and better. We’re a lot more comfortable in the backfield and we brought in [T] Donald [Stephenson] and brought in [T] Russell Okung who played in the system, just a different terminology, but it wasn’t long for them to catch up on the terminology so it should be fun.” On how confident he is with Siemian as the starting quarterback “Super—as confident as he is. That’s a guy that I’m going to go play for. Ride or die, I’m going to war with him. ‘13’ knows that I’ve got his back.” On if he feels comfortable going up against eight-man boxes with FB Andy Janovich “I do. Andy and I have gelled in ways I thought that I would never gel with a fullback because I’m just not used to having one. Now that we have him, we’ve had some reps together and we have some things together. I got some big runs off of him too, so I have to thank him for that, but hopefully we keep that going, but with Andy being in there it helps tremendously. It just gives us a different element to our offense and it makes us tougher.” On the type of relationship he has with Janovich “Just what he sees. He’s asking me what I see, but it’s more what he sees because of what he sees, I can make him ride off of how he’s feeling or how he sees the front. He loves when I talk to him back there, especially when it comes to two-back protections that we have so when I’m back there talking to him. He loves it. We’re always on the same page. You should never see a bust by us. They say ‘never say never’, but I can say that confidently.” On the last time he ran behind a fullback “College, [at] Cal [the University of California]—[FB] Eric Stevens, that was his name.” On if the team has spoken about being underdogs against Carolina “No. We’ll probably be underdogs Week 1, underdogs Week 2 and so on. We’re fine, we’ll be the underdogs.” ©2016 Denver Broncos Football Club. All rights reserved.
