Principles of Business, Marketing, and Finance Instructor: Mrs. Lori Vereen Room: 640 Conference: 1:00--1:50 (6th period) Tutorials: By Appointment Email: [email protected] Description of Course: Principles of Business, Marketing, and Finance, students gain knowledge and skills in economies and private enterprise systems, the impact of global business, the marketing of goods and services, advertising, and product pricing. Students analyze the sales process and financial management principles. This course allows students to reinforce, apply, and transfer academic knowledge and skills to a variety of interesting and relevant activities, problems, and settings in business, marketing, and finance. Textbook Resource: CEV Principles of Business Marketing and Finance Course Requirements: This course is recommended for students in Grades 10-12. Recommended Equipment: Computer Lab with Internet capabilities. Supplies: 1 two pocket folder with brads or binder, notebook paper, pencil and pen. Punctuality and Participation: Attendance is very important in PBMF. Being in class is crucial to my understanding of the material. I will arrive to class on time and participation is mandatory for my success. Class Procedure: Proceeded to assigned seats immediately All Backpacks are placed on the floor under the desk No cell phone usage/unless directed by teacher Read and complete the assigned warm-up posted under PBMF Listen and discuss with instructor objectives and assignments for the day The class works from bell to bell Attitude: I am expected to come to work with a positive attitude. I am to be considerate of others and my supervisor. My attitude will get me further in life than anything. This involves respecting myself, my peers, and my instructor. Assignments: Lesson Plans and assignments will be posted online in the class electronic notebook. Most assignments are due when assigned. Taking notes, class participation, and completing the given work is critical to being successful in this course. All hard copies of the assignments are turned in to the correct class drawer. Electronic copies will be turned into Electronic class Notebook. Absences: All students are responsible for keeping up with the assignments given in class. The assignments will also be posted online on class electronic notebook. Upon a student’s return to class, the website must be checked so that the assignment can be completed. Students must complete the assignment within 2 days. Computer Usage: I will be using the computers to complete exercises, activities, and projects utilizing the Office package. I may not change any settings or set screensavers on the systems. The printer is only used to print Sports class project and assignments. I may not install new programs or delete old ones including icons. I am to work only in the software necessary to do my assigned work, LOG OUT when done, and leave my station in working order for the next coworker. My chair should be pushed in and workstation left clean. If I wish to be in different software than what is being taught in class, I must seek permission first. No games or personal email during class time. Failure to abide by the district AUP will lead to severe consequences including loss of computer rights. Electronic Devices: I understand that electronic devices are not to be visible in this class unless directed by the teacher. Passes: I must carry the White Pass to the restroom and other approved parts of the building. I will sign the pass sign out form. I will bring the pass back to my supervisor. Language & Temperament: I will treat others with respect. Everyone has the right to work in a safe and comfortable environment. I will not disturb others who are trying to work. I will exhibit patience, good character, and a sense of humor. I will try to make this workplace the type of place I can’t wait to come to each day. Grades: 50% major (unit exams, major projects, daily focus activities, class presentation) 50% daily (weekly quiz, group projects, class projects, class participation) 15% final exam Late Assignments: Assignments are due on the date assigned. Any assignments received after the due date will be given a late work grade. Re-Test Policy: Retesting Opportunities The Business/Marketing department offers retesting opportunities to students who have scored 74% or less on a major exam. In order to retest, you must attend a tutorial to complete the approved remediation activities. The retest will be administered within 5 days of the original test grade being returned. 75% is the maximum score that can be earned on a retest. You are allowed only 1 opportunity to retest. A variety of evaluation methods will be used on retests. YOU are responsible for approaching the teacher to set up the tutorial and retest time. Remember you only have 5 days after the posted test grade to retest.
