EDMUND KEMPER

 Born December 18, 1948 in
Burbank, California
 Had a troubled childhood
 Parents divorced in 1957
 Lived with alcoholic mother who
blamed him for everything
 Forced to live in basement away from
everyone
 Had dreams about killing his mother
 Cut off heads of his sister’s dolls
 Killed his cat with a knife
 Moved with grandparents
 Later diagnosed with paranoid
schizophrenia
 Grandparents took away his rifle
after killing multiple small animals
and birds
 Murdered grandparents August 27,
1964 at age 15
 Shot grandmother in the kitchen
after an argument
 Shot grandfather outside by car in
the driveway
 Killed grandfather so he didn’t
have to see his wife dead
 Murdered mother and her friend,
Sara in 1973
 Killed mother by slitting her throat
and beheaded her like all his other
victims
 Strangled Sara with a scarf
 Picked up and let go female
hitchhikers
 Eventually stopped letting them go
 Killed 6 college-aged women in the
1970’s in Santa Cruz area
 Sentenced to life in prison on
November
 Found guilty of First degree murder
on all eight counts
-murder that is carried out with
the planned and deliberate
intention of killing somebody
 I believe Edmund Kemper’s
criminal behavior was caused by
his upbringing.
 Kemper’s parents were divorced
and he lived with his alcoholic
mother who blamed him fro all
their problems and made him live
in the basement away from
everyone else.
 Was diagnosed with paranoid
schizophrenia as a teen.
