Expectations
• Attend all practices. Excused absences are awarded only when the
WRESTLER communicates with Coach Higdon as soon as he/she
knows of the absence.
• Weight – It is important to your wrestler and our team that they meet
their goals for weigh ins. The rules for weigh ins have changed this
year to wrestlers are required to weigh in 1 hour before each meet.
• If a wrestler fails to meet weight, it may result in a forfeit of the
match.
• Meets – Please see schedule and plan on having your wrestler
present at all meets.
Weight management system
• NWCA online
• 1.5% body weight each weigh in
• If you are heavy the decent plan recalculates
• You have to be assessed in order to wrestle
• It assesses you hydrated and calculates your percent body fat. The
system will not let you go below 7%.
• Athletes who assess below 7% have to get medical verification that
they are healthy.

STEP 1: FIGHT INFLAMMATION
At each meal, fill half your plate
with fruits and vegetables. These
foods contain antioxidants to help
you fight inflammation that occurs
with heavy training.
STEP 2: FUEL WORKING MUSCLES
Carbohydrates are the primary energy
source for working muscles. Fill
approximately ¼ of your plate with
carbohydrate-rich foods.
STEP 3: MUSCLE GROWTH
& REPAIR
Protein is necessary for building and
maintaining muscle mass. Fill ~ ¼ of
your plate with a lean source of protein.
STEPS 2 & 3: DAIRY PRODUCTS
Dairy products are a good source of
both carbohydrates & protein.
Including dairy products at each meal is
a great idea!
