Match Report:
The first game of the season was certainly one to forget against a team which continues to prove
difficult to beat for Churchill. The game started positively with the side maintaining good possession
despite many players making their debut. Half chances fell to Bell and Evans but the team lacked any
real attacking threat. Disaster struck when a corner was defended poorly and allowed the Gosforth
forward to head home. Again another mistake enabled cc Gosforth to take a two goal lead, before
disaster struck when Wells went off injured. Adam Mulligan replaced him with Liam Mulligan
replacing him at centre half. Post-match X-rays revealed no break and Wells is hoping to return
within a month, potentially missing 3 or 4 games. Mistakes continued and despite a wonder strike
from the Gosforth wide man it really was an uphill task. The second half sore the team continue to
play and try to do the right things when in possession but again were punished for errors. The game
ended 6-0 which was a heavy defeat and one in which the team must get over quickly. The score line
was not fully deserved but certainly was not helped with the injury to a key player.
