Even though we have had 3 days in school with temperatures well over 30 degrees Celsius, the children have been so sensible, kind and considerate to each other. A child in Year 1 went and sorted out water and a sunhat for a friend who was really struggling with the heat – lovely! Parent Questionnaire 2017 As a school, we are constantly seeking ways to improve and we recognise how important your feedback is in supporting us in this process. Our parental questionnaire has gone digital, which will hopefully make this far easier for you to complete. I’d be very grateful if you could complete this by Friday 30th June. Please click or type in the link below: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/wgpar PTA Summer Fayre – Friday 14th July from 1:30pm There are not many weeks to go before we have our Summer Fayre. The PTA have been busy, behind the scenes, making final preparations for what will be a really fun family event. If you are interested in running a stall, please register this at the school office. (There is a nominal charge of £10 per stall.) We would also appreciate any donations of bric-a-brac, toys, books or cakes. (Please only bring in cakes during the week of the fayre.) On Friday 7th July we will be holding a non-uniform day in exchange for donations of bottles for our bottle tombola stall. More information from the PTA to follow separately soon. A lovely sunny sporting week coming up at Walsgrave C of E Academy next week. *Throughout the week the children will be carrying out ‘healthy lifestyle’ activities to encourage them to eat and live well. *On Wednesday we will be having our annual Sports Day. We will be asking the children to wear their sports kits all day and to bring in £1 to donate to important charities, which currently feature in the news. KS1 Sports Day start at 9:20am with KS2 Sports Day at 1:30pm. *On Thursday afternoon we will be having our Fun Run, asking children to get sponsored at home for the number of laps they complete. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible during next week! I hope you have a lovely weekend with your families. If you have a spare moment on Saturday at 2:30pm, Miss Dymek, Mrs. Freckleton and myself will be abseiling down Coventry Cathedral for the Global Care charity. I’m starting to feel a little nervous!! The children learnt that explorers helped us find the world that we see today. They then created a timeline to show their knowledge and understanding of these exciting events. The children then had the opportunity to be designers when they designed their own pirate ship. The children have thoroughly enjoyed our theme so far this term. Lower KS1 Wow 4M's maths set has been busy this week. They have been investigating 3D shapes and their properties. During the week they had the chance to build some 3D shapes and note down how many vertices, edges and faces they had. Why don't you ask them what is special about a cone? EYFS On Wednesday 21st June the children in Nursery raised money for Barnardo's by taking part in a Big Toddle. Grownups were invited to join us and we walked around part of the field 5 times, after all that hot fun we cooled off with an ice pop. Thank you so much to everyone who came in to help with the Toddle and to everyone who sponsored the children. We've raised £140 in total. Upper KS2 It has been another busy week in Year 6 with our focus well and truly being on the upcoming production 'School of Rock'. The children have been learning lines, fine tuning their acting and practicing songs to melt your heart and amuse. Not long now until our first performance- we can’t wait!
