Why a service matrix?
Situation
• Many sources of information on NRENs’ services out
there:
• TERENA Compendium; potentially all NRENs globally
• NRENs’ own websites: local language, not all services
displayed e.g. planned/developing services
• Nordic NREN service matrix
Objective
• Create a single view of service portfolios across GÉANT
NRENs to support:
• Sharing of knowledge and expertise
• Identification of trends and gaps
• Future brokerage of services
Possibilities
• Intra NREN service brokerage in GN4
• Identification of services that NRENs wish to offer to other
NRENs
• Work with SA7 to identify opportunities and promote these

Identified total of 60+ services; approx. 20 of these listed in the
Compendium
Gathered information from:
o GÉANT Partner Relations records on NREN services
o TERENA Compendium data
o NREN websites

What next for a service matrix?
 Avoid multiple sources of data >> ensure all services are included in
Compendium for updates
 Improve presentation and visualisation of data using system developed
for Compendium (more shortly from Christian…)
 Gather your input – what do you want to see?
 Ask for your help to update entries and add technical details where
appropriate
 Sync up with others working in this area e.g. SA7
