P-marking of Air filters

Marking- and certification system
P-MARKING OF AIR FILTERS
The P-mark is the SP Group’s own quality label, which is used
on a large number of products and services, including air filters. This certification covers medium and fine filters. Air filters
are certified to CR000 (General Certification rules for Certifying Products) and CR055 (Air Filters for Ventilation Systems).
The P-mark means that the product or
service is type approved and that the
manufacturer’s own self-inspection
process is monitored by SP.
Certification can generally be described
as consisting of three parts, as described below:
1. Quality system
• Requirements include an effective quality system for
the production process.
• Self-inspection process with documented tests on
filters and materials, inspection during production and
final inspection of filters.
• Documentation of filters and obligation to report changes in design or materials.
• Annual inspection visit by specialist auditor.
In order for a filter to receive the P-mark it must pass all three
stages above. There are minimum permissible degrees of separation for long-term monitoring, and the threshold values
for the different filter classes are given in the table below.

Certification applies to a product group and can therefore
cover more articles than have been tested. In such cases an
assessment is made to decide whether the article meets the
requirements in accordance with CR055.
More information about P-marking and the individual parts
that are P-marked can be found under certified products on
.
the SP website at www.sp.se.
2. Annual test of filter classification
• Independent sampling and visual inspection.
• Inspection of pressure drop data and filter class in accordance with EN 779.
3. Testing of long-term performance with regard to
degree of separation
•
Monitoring of the degree of separation over six months of continuous use (according to SP method
1937). During this six-month
period the degree of separation
must not fall below the threshold
values given in CR055. Long-term
testing supplements testing to
EN779 and makes P-marking
unique. These tests are carried out
on outdoor test rigs.
