The Alan Turing Institute Internship Programme 2017
We invite talented PhD students to apply for a place in The Alan Turing Institute Internship
Programme 2017.
The Turing is running a 12-week Internship Programme for up to 20 students to work on one
of 9 projects (detailed below) in the summer of 2017, between 26 June and 15 September.
Interns will be based at the Turing headquarters in the British Library, London, unless
otherwise stated.
The Turing has cross-disciplinarity at its core; we bring researchers in mathematics and
theoretical computer science, statistics and machine learning, algorithms for data analytics
and distributed computing, computational social science and data ethics, and industry
partners, to work together in an open and collaborative environment under a shared goal to
generate world-class research in data science.
While in residence, interns will to contribute to defined research projects, share knowledge
and be a part of a data science community with research excellence at its core. Interns will
have regular interaction with their project supervisor during their 12 week stay and
encouraged to take part in a range of Turing activities, including lectures, seminars and
workshops.
The Alan Turing Institute Internships are full-time, paid positions.
Salary: £30,000 pro rata

Eligibility
Applicants must be currently studying for a PhD at a UK University.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK and be available for the entire duration of the
programme.

Your Curriculum Vitae including publications and previous degrees.

Two letters of reference, one of which should be from your current supervisor.
References must be received by the closing date in order to submit your application.
You will be asked to provide contact details for two references. They must login and submit a
pdf letter of recommendation before the closing date. It is therefore advised you request this
from your references as soon as possible as incomplete applications will not be accepted.
