Online Theory of Change facility

Online Theory of Change facility
WikiChange offers social organisations an online facility that supports Theory of
Change thinking and helps to embed such in the daily organisation and culture.
It enriches strategic management of societal value creation, placing Theory of
Change thinking at the centre of such.
Guidance: Guiding social organisations through Theory of
Change development
WikiChange guides social organisations through the process of
developing and visualizing a Theory of Change. It offers added value
to novice as well as experienced users. For each step, it provides
instructions, thought tools, (video) tutorials, illustrations, questions
to ask, etc. Expert lenses on topics such as assumptions, power
analysis, partnerships and systems analysis benefit even the most
experienced user.
To embed Theory of Change thinking in the daily organisation and
culture of social organisations, WikiChange presents features that
place Theory of Change thinking at the centre of communication,
stakeholder engagement and ultimately strategic learning.

Communication: the narrative
integrated in the Theory of Change
WikiChange integrates the traditional
narrative in the Theory of Change its
visualisation. Users can apply six strategy
themes on the components and
relationships of their visualisation. This
allows them to discuss, for the different
parts of their Theory of Change, the
progress (KPI’s) made, validation
(assumptions, evidence and arguments), needs, innovations, trade-offs, and opportunities & threats. These
discussions take on a Wikipedia-like format. As a result, social organisations discuss all issues of strategic
importance in relationship to their capacity to produce societal value. It makes the narrative more interactive; an
issue or discussion can be reached via (clicking on) the relevant component or relationship in the visualization.
To enable consistency in communication throughout different channels of communication, WikiChange allows users
to embed their Theory of Change, including all the interactive features, on other websites as well.
Stakeholder engagement and co-creation
Supported by the ability to go in-depth into a Theory of Change and the issues surrounding it, WikiChange offers
features for stakeholders to engage with these issues and provide feedback, and for organisations to source
expertise and resources from stakeholders. To this end, stakeholders can also subscribe to WikiChange and social
organisations can invite them to give their
perspective on the strategic issues
discussed via the wiki pages. Thus, it
facilitates collaboration and co-creation
from the perspective of an organisation’s
societal value creation. By being
transparent about the issues and
challenges at hand, it is much more engaging for stakeholders to read, use and contribute to a Theory of Change,
producing buy-in and support. The result is a constantly evolving co-creation with stakeholders of a Wiki Report on
the societal value of an organisation.
Strategic learning
Suited for all stages of development
The Theory of Change built, offers a basis for constant
analysis, critical thinking, reflection and co-creation. Social
organisations update their WikiChange account with new
experiences, lessons learned and results. They continue to
discuss the issues strategic to the realization of their vision of
success and adapt their Theory of Change, making it truly a
continuous learning process and the Theory of Change a living
‘document’.
WikiChange can be used no matter which stage
of development your Theory of Change is in and
is of value irrespective whether you’re new to
Theory of Change thinking or have years of
experience. Guiding texts and resources help
develop a first version, thought tools help
deepen a particular aspect of your Theory of
Change, and stakeholder engagement
functionalities facilitate a continuous learning
process that benefits even the most advanced
Theory of Change.
Open knowledge library
WikiChange generates an open contextualized knowledge
library with solutions to big societal challenges and the available validation for these solutions. This way,
organisations don’t have to reinvent the wheel by trying to validate something that has already been validated
elsewhere.
