The South West England Compass Award Purpose The South West England Compass Award can be gained by any adult member in recognition of their contributions and commitment to Guiding and their community. Criteria The Award will be given to recognise the dedication of our members at local level who give freely of their time week after week to provide good quality guiding to the girls in their unit and to the benefit of their local community. This could be maintaining a successful unit or it could be a Guiding activity or project that shows the unique quality that the member brings to local guiding and the community. The Award may be made to any adult member, aged eighteen years and over involved in Guiding. The nominee for this award does not have to hold a County/Island, Region or National appointment. The award is not linked to the nominee’s length of service. How to Apply? 1. Nominations should be made by application; application forms are downloadable from the Region website or can be requested from Jenni or Lucy at the Region office. 2. Applications must be made without the knowledge of the nominee. 3. Completed applications should be returned to the Executive Manager marked ‘confidential’, together with a minimum of 2 letters of support, one of which must be from a Guiding member. 4. The nomination must be endorsed by a Commissioner (County/Island, Division, District or Section Commissioner). The Commissioner is asked to confirm/acknowledge the worthiness of the award being applied for. 5. Applications will be treated with the strictest confidence.
