AOVET searches:
A highly motivated individual of regional repute and excellent scientific and
clinical recognition. The successful applicant would be a member of the
AOVET Latin America Board to contribute to all activities of that body. The
applicant needs to be able to work in a multi-cultural environment with no
regional travel restrictions and is expected to have the vision to contribute to
the entire AOVET organization and to help us set new standards and position
AOVET as a global leader in trauma-related veterinary surgery. AOVET is
now seeking nominations and reapplications for the following 3 position:

Requirements
General
 Must - Veterinary surgeon in active practice
 Must - Regional reputation and strong personal relationships / recognition
regionally
 Must - Good / clear communicator, good listener with the ability to work in
multi-cultural environments
 Must – At least good command of the English language
 Must - Prepared to spend the equivalent of an average 1 day per month on
AOVET / AO affairs
 Must - Team player who can work together to achieve goals

Any Re-election shall follow the same procedure and rules as a regular election. If the person nominated for re-election is the only candidate, a
2/3rd majority vote by the overall electorate is required.




Must - Willing and prepared to travel regionally (no exclusions)
Desired - International experience (e.g. fellowship, faculty or research travel)
Desired - Recognized member or officer on key national, regional, or
international veterinary associations
Desired – Prior experience in veterinary practice management and/or other
business operations (e.g. industry consultant, MBA, practice owner/operator)
Education related
 Must - Active AOVET faculty
 Desired - Recognized as excellent educator
 Desired - Faculty Education Program (FEP) completed or will be within 12
months
R&D related
 Desired – Relevant Research experience
 Desired - Good scientific reputation regionally, supported by high quality
academic publications, journals, book chapters, etc.
Responsibilities















To be a member of the AOVET LAT Board
To ensure that the objectives of the AOVET LAT Board are achieved by
fulfilling the duties of the Board
To protect the interests of AOVET Latin America
To act in compliance with the bylaws and regulations of the AO Foundation
To comply with the AO Code of Ethics and Shared values
To closely collaborate with the other members of the Board and the AOVET
management staff towards the fulfillment of the tasks of the AOVET LAT
Board
To accept and fulfill board members’ tasks
To attend, participate in, and contribute to efficient & effective AOVET Latin
America Board meetings
To prepare all necessary contributions and documentations connected
therewith
To ensure timely, fair, and transparent succession planning within AOVET
Latin America entities
To help implementing AOVET Latin America Board resolutions, and actions
To report on the content of regional educational activities within AOVET Latin
America
To ensure the avoidance of bias in faculty selection and rotation, and
avoidance of conflict of interest in any and all interactions with other bodies
(e.g. industry, university)
To support AOVET management in the efficient & effective management of
the course process
To support the Course Planning (incl. financial mid-term planning) process
To ensure compliance of AOVET educational activities with the binding AOF rules, regulations and
contractual obligations
