Representative Apprentice Coach
Job Description
The position of Apprentice Coach is a pathway opportunity for all coaches wishing to further
their coaching careers and for those wishing to give back to the netball community at centre
level.

Apprentice Coach - Under 23 Team
Reports to:
NC High Performance Manager
Under 23 Head Coach
Term of Position:
2013 representative season
Purpose of Position:
To assist the Under 23 Head Coach in the coaching of Netball Central Under 23 team.
Key Tasks:
1.
To be familiar with, and adhere to, all Netball Central policies, including the specific
representative programme policies.
2.
With Head Coach’s direction, assist in the delivery of Netball Central player
development programme.
3.
With Head Coach’s direction, assist with the warm-ups, skills and drills and cool downs
of all players at trainings.
4.
Support the Under 23 Head Coach with provision of sports specific training at all
coaching sessions.
5.
With Coach’s direction assist with the monitoring of development, fitness and
wellbeing of the Under 23 team.
6.
To observe and assist where requested by coach with the preparation of allocated
team for participation in scheduled tournaments and fixtures.
7.
To assist and support the Coach and Manager of the Under 23 team at the National
Championships in July.
8.
To support the Coach of the Under 23 team to which you are appointed with the
collation of statistics and other information that may be required for game analysis
and results to be used for a report back to Netball Central.
9.
To keep a record of all games and results for the teams for whom you are responsible
at tournaments to be used for a report back to the Netball Central Board.
10.
Report back to the Netball Central Board through a Review Committee as part of the
end-of-season review process held within one month of completion of the
representative season. The report should include:


A summary of the tasks undertaken during the season; and
Recommendations for Netball Central with regard to coaching requirements,
particularly as they relate to the assistant coach’s role.
11.
Each Apprentice Coach may be required to sign a contract with Netball Central that
sets out the responsibilities of the apprentice coach.
