Dear Parent
P1 Parents
Please see the final leaflet entitled Personal Development and Mutual Understanding. These
leaflets can also be accessed through our school website.
School Photographs
All pupils who had their photograph taken yesterday will receive a sample photo this week.
Please return all orders and money to school by Friday 28 th October. If your child was absent
yesterday, the photographer will be back on Thursday 10th November.
Girls’ Hockey
Our school will take part in a ‘Hockey Blitz’ at Rugby Avenue, this Friday 21st October from
10.30am until 12.00pm. Those players selected to represent the school will receive a separate
consent letter. Please note, children must bring a gum shield and shin-pads.
P7 Educational Trip (reminder)
The P7 class will travel to Belfast tomorrow to take part in the RADAR Project (Northern
Ireland’s first and only interactive safety and life skills centre).
Shared Education Programme
As part of the Shared Education Programme, the P1 class from St. Malachy’s Primary School
will join our P1 children tomorrow, followed by the P2 class on Friday.
P6 Educational Visit
The P6 children will visit Flowerfields in Portstewart tomorrow, to take part in an Into Film
Club Roadshow. The theme for the day is Roald Dahl's Big Friendly Giant. Pupils will animate
their own BFG using Ipads under the guidance of the Nerve Centre Creative Learning Staff. We
will leave school at 9.15am and return again in time for lunch.
Parent Interviews (P2-P7) (reminder)
Interviews for P2-P7 parents will take place during week beginning 24 th October. If you haven’t
yet received a date and time to attend, please let your child’s class teacher know.
To facilitate these interviews, school will close at 2.00pm each day for all children. Those
children taking part in swimming lessons on the Wednesday can go home at 2.30pm. Please
note there will be no After-Schools Clubs or Extended School activities that week, however the
Breakfast Club will still be available.
Harvest Assembly
Parents and friends are invited to our harvest assembly next Thursday 27th October at 9.15am.
All donations of food (fruit, vegetables, tins, cakes, etc) can be brought into school anytime,
however perishable items such as fresh fruit and flowers should be brought in on the morning of
27th October.
Operation Christmas Child
By now all shoeboxes should have been returned to school. However, you have still time to
donate items, so please bring these into school and we will complete a shoebox on your behalf.
Halloween Disco
The Friends of Harpurs’ Hill Primary School will hold a Halloween disco next Thursday 27th
October. Admission is £1.00 and a tuck shop will be available. Halloween costumes are
optional, however due to the recent events in the media, I would ask that no-one comes dressed
as a clown. Nursery, P1-P3 : 6.30pm - 7.30pm
P4 – P7
: 7.45pm–8.45pm
Milk Order for November (Monday 7th November – Wednesday 30th November)
Please send in £3.60 by Tuesday 25th October, if you wish to order milk for November.
Extended Schools Film Club (P4-P7)
The next film to be shown next Tuesday will be Hotel Transylvania 2. Refreshments are
available during the showing for only 50p. Please complete and return the tear-off slip if you
wish your child to attend. For your child’s own safety, once we receive confirmation that your
child is attending, they will be expected to turn up and must stay for the whole film (unless we
are informed otherwise).
Half-Term Break
School will finish for the half-term break on Friday 28th October at 2.00pm and will re-open
again on Monday 7th November. I would like to wish everyone a very enjoyable break.
