Why Are So Many Refrigerant
Users Moving to One Shot®
(R-422C)? The Secret is Out!
ICOR’S replacement for CFC R-502 and HCFC R-22, ONE SHOT® (R-422C),
continues to grow in popularity with refrigeration specialists. With nearly a decade
of successful field
applications to its
credit, ONE SHOT
has proven to be a
reliable, user friendly and exceptional cost saving option for
refrigerant users and equipment owners transitioning away
from the old ozone depleting CFCs, HCFCs, and even the
interim replacements such as HCFC R-408A, R-402A, and
R-402B.
ONE SHOT has been put to the test in a wide variety of
refrigeration applications and under the harshest
conditions. From simple reach-in freezers to more sophisticated industrial process systems, ONE SHOT delivers the
required performance with minimal conversion cost. On
systems originally designed for R-502 the system conversion to ONE SHOT is truly a snap! There is no need to change any system components, including the metering device. Since
ONE SHOT is compatible with all standard refrigeration lubricants there is no need for an unnecessary and costly conversion
to POE oil.
As a replacement for R-22 in medium and low temp refrigeration applications, ONE SHOT not only delivers superior
performance, it has helped equipment owners shave countless dollars off their power costs. For some applications such as
grocers and refrigerated warehousing, power consumption is one of their most, if not their most, critical cost considerations.
When converting an existing R-22 refrigeration system to ONE SHOT, modifications to the metering device are required.
Depending on the type of TXV the system utilizes the conversion may only require changing the power element. Any element
rated for R-404A, or R-507A will be suitable. Any additional costs incurred from modifying the metering device are recouped
in a very short time in the form of energy savings. Cost savings will vary depending on the application and conditions.
Sales for ONE SHOT have risen sharply over the last few years for a variety of
reasons. Through ICOR’s marketing, and the far more effective word of mouth,
users across the country have discovered ONE SHOT’s many positive attributes.
But another major factor has definitely been the price advantage users have with
ONE SHOT over the popular interim replacements R-408A, R-402A, and R-402B.
Today users can purchase ONE SHOT for nearly $4.00 per lb on average less than
all of the interim replacements. This alone has produced scores of new ONE
SHOT users in a time when everyone is looking for a way to trim costs and
improve bottom lines.
As with all ICOR products, ONE SHOT is sold exclusively through wholesale distributors nationwide. ICOR does not sell to any
end users, third party brokers, or non-brick and mortar “on-line” companies. Like ICOR’s top selling R-12 replacement, HOT
SHOT® (R-414B), ONE SHOT has proven to be a profitable addition to our distributors refrigerant offering.
ONE SHOT is non-ozone depleting (HFC), non-toxic, and non-flammable. Every cylinder of ONE SHOT includes a pressure
temperature chart. For additional information regarding ONE SHOT, or any of ICOR’s refrigerants or refrigerant reclaim
