Candidate countries from a pre-accession strategy,
Countries contributing financially to the Framework Programme,
Limited number of other nationals may also be accepted.
• Languages:
– 1st language: English/German/French
– 2nd language: one EU language (only for EU nationals)
• Not have done more than 6 weeks of in-service training or
work for any EU institutions or bodies

– preparation of a thesis for a university degree (Master, PhD),
– after university education: 5 years after the last university
degree
• Duration: 3 – 5 months,
• Start: 1st or 16th of the month
• Allowance (monthly): 25% of the basic
remuneration for an official at grade AD5/1
• Reimbursment of travel expenses (50 km rule)

• be nationals of a Member State of the European Union or an applicant
country, without prejudice to the provisions of article 5 paragraph 2 of the
Internal rules;
• be aged 18 or over on their traineeship starting date;
• have a thorough knowledge of one of the official languages of the
European Union;
• not have been awarded any other traineeship or have been in paid
employment for more than four consecutive weeks at the expense of the
European Union budget
